St. Louis (on right) pres- ident of the Ladies Auxiliary presenting a cheque of $3856.00 to Margaret Puttock, Chair- man of the Hospital Building Fund. The money will pay for the cost of four (2 semi-private rooms) patient beds and will be acknowledged as a gift from the Terrace Bay Legion and the Auxiliary. On November llth, at the Legion dinner, special guests were Mr. Charles Wedley, a vet- eran of the Boer War (1899-1902); Mr. Ed Cavanuagh, a veteran of World War I (1914- 1918). Mr. Wedley is the father of Gertrude Cotton of Terrace Bay. Mr. Cavanaugh is a pioneer of Terrace Bay, being the first Post- master and a former Reeve of the town. Pictured below from the left are John Falzetta a veteran of World War II (1939-1945), C. Wedley a veteran of the Boer War and E. Cavanaugh a veteran of World War I. Pictured above is B. St. Louis, Auxiliary President, presenting a cheque to Branch Pres- ident John Falzetta for six thousand dollars. In spite of the cold windy day, there was an excellent turn out of veterans for the Cen- otaph Service at 11:00 a.m., on November llth. The Guides, Brownies and Cubs were out in good numbers adding so much to the service. The Town Police were on parade too, and looked very smart in their uniforms. Special thanks, are due to Charlie Wise playing the bugle, Reverend Bigelow for conducting the service, to everyone who turned out and especially those who purchased wreaths and placed them on the Cenotaph. BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING HIGHLIGHTS: Continued from page 6 .... Rese@lution No. 41/77 authorized Principals, in consultation with the Director of Education to hire additional teachers required at the beginning of a school year as a result of uns foreseen increased enrolment. This motion was rescinded with the understanding that should such an emergency staffing situation arise prior to a regularly scheduled Board Meeting, Trustees would be contacted with a view to filling the staffing requirements as quickly as possible. It was resolved. that all course offerings be tentatively approved at the local level by Trustees and Principals, annually, prior to the distribution of option sheets; formal Board approval to be obtained by April 30th. The Board approved the Lake Superior Public School Grade 8 Major Excursion to Toronto from May 29th to June 3rd, 1978. The Board approved the submission of an ap- plication for renewal of the 1977 Community School Development Project, Proposal "Partici- paction and Coordination," in the amount of $6,000.00, subject to Ministry approval.
