PAGE 10 TERRACE BAY NEWS NOVEMBER 9, 1977 TERRACE BAY POLICE DEPARTMENT POLICE REPORT 1 to 6 Nov. 77: On November lst, a theft of a Craig 8 Track was reported stolen from a parked vehicle. Entry, to the vehicle was made by smashing the driver's window. It was also noted that acid had been poured on the hood of this veh- icle causing approximately $100.00 aapade to the paint. Also on November 1, a quantity of tools were stolen from A.F. Carew Construction on the mill site. During the early hours of November 2, a report was received that a young man was at- tempting to steal a car on McDonald Avenue. A juvenile abandoned the car and. fled on foot but was later apprehended. This young person has been returned to Training School in Sud- bury. Also during the early hours of November 2, Police observed that a vehicle had been driven on the golf course causing damage to the greens. On November 3rd, a theft of a Yamaha snow- mobile jacket was reported to police. This jacket had apparently been stolen from a park- ed car in the downtown area. Radar was in use on November 3rd and four tickets under the Highway Traffic Act were issued. ! November 4th was a relatively quiet night with only one charge under the Liquor Licence Act being laid. November 5th, saw police attend a garage fire at 129 Poplar, one charge under the Lig- wor Licence Act was laid and our breathalizer operator conducted two breath tests. Chief of Police William Zroback was awarded the 25th Anniversary medal commemorating Her: Majesty's ascention to the throne. This medal was accompanied by a certificate from the Governor General of Canada. CHURCH NEWS: On Sunday, October 30, 1977 a coffee hour was held after the service at the Terrace Bay Community Church. 'Many friends gathered to- gether to say goodbye to Dorelle and Jack Wade who are leaving to make their home in Midland, Ontario. Delicious cake and cookies were served by M. Lundberg and A. Pelto. 'will be implemented next spring. SCHOOL NEWS : The Lake Superior Public school conducted parent/teacher interviews in Schreiber and Terrace Bay during the afternoon and evening of 1977 11 02. An impressive number of parents took advantage of the opportunity to discuss" the progress of their children in the schoo! program. The excellent turn out was appreca. ted by the staff of the school. ' LADIES GOLF NEWS: The Ladies Golf Club held their Semi-Annual Meeting and Dinner on October 18th. The fol- lowing executive for 1977/78 was elected: Ida Romanuk - president, Jean Megraw --- past president, Helen Farrell ~- vice-president, Isobel Renaud - secretary-treasurer, Rhea Beaulieu - handicap chairman, Barbara Wise = membership and fund raising, Julie Rattray and Jan Hall - tournaments and Kathie Notwell - prizes. Ruby Clark and Jean Megraw will receive pins for breaking 100 during one of the 18 hole pin rounds. The Match Play resulted in a win by Rhea Beaulieu and the runner up was Linda Hutchin- son. The consolation prize went to Marg Phillips. ® The Ringer Board low gross and runner-up winners were Jean Megraw and Jan Hall, res- pectively. Nancy Evoy was the low net winner. Plans to conduct a junior girl's golf dev- elopment program were discussed.
