They are allowed to sit in any of the avail- able place settings and are given a menu. The menu is set up in a manner in which a special section is devoted to the Special of the Meal and the rest of the menu contains ad- ditional meals, side orders, drinks etc. They say variety is the spice of life and at Birch -wood we offer as much of it as possible. The residents are encouraged to vary their meal times as they see fit and to be flexible if they wish. . Overall it is felt by most of the folks living here that the change was a change in the right direction. Some comments about the change are as follows. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Speck are formerly from the Geraldton area (seated in the picture, being served by Marg Duriez) find the nev set up an improvement. They like the hours and seating arrangements. They feel the service is a lot better than before and like the re- laxing atmosphere the move has created. One definite benefit they feel is that you now can fit your meal times around your own time in- stead of fitting your time around your meals. Mr. Speck also said, that you can classify it as being like a Big Hotel except you get:a lot of extra's. Mrs. Speck found that she was sitting with different people and getting to know them better. Mr. Trevor Yeoman says he finds the dining arrangement quite adequate. He now orders what he wants and has gone on a diet. He uses the menu to order things he likes and are not too fattening. He also noted that he has lost over seven pounds and is quite proud of the fact.
