MAY 26, 1977 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 9 POLICE REPORT 16_TO 22 MAY 1977 The Terrace Bay Police investigated twenty-- five occurrences during the period 16-22 May. Some of these occurrences included the fol- lowing: one charge' of resisting arrest, one charge of assault causing bodily harm, one charge of obstructing a police officer in the execution of his duties, one charge of mischief] when the cruiser car window was kicked out from the inside by a prisoner. Police also laid charges under the Narcotic Control Act and one charge of petty trespass. During' this period, two charges were laid under the Liquor Licence Act for consuming in a place other than a residence. Police also are investigating the following: one willful damage when a window was broken at - "the local arena and the theft of an $800.00 + coloured television from the construction camp. The following charges were laid under the - Highway Traffic Act: one charge of failing to wear a helmet on a motorcycle, one charge of failing to produce a valid driver's licence and "failing to identify as well as not having a + licence endorsed to drive a motorcycle. The police department is happy to' announce "that the renovations are almost complete at the office and should be complete in the very near future. These new facilities will improve the operation of the police department and will be open to the public to view the building some- time next week. CATHOLIC WOMEN'S LEAGUE NEWS A small candle-lite ceremony was held in St. Martin of Tours Church on May 15th, 1977, | to honour the newly elected officers of the Catholic Women's League. Father A. Fujarczuk bresented President Lillian Belliveau with the League Gavel. He reminded her that her Author- ity came from God. She accepted the gavel say- ing she understood and accepted the responsibi- lity that went with it. Following the installation of officers the league members and fifty children from St. Mar- tin's School made up a Living Rosary which sur -rounded the church. Mrs. Belliveau Presented a beautiful arrangement of flowers to the Blessed Virgin Mary as the congregation sang, "On This Day, Oh Beautiful Mother". Benedic- tion of the Blessed Sacrament followed. A short C.W.L. meeting was held, ,beginning with the League Prayer. Mrs. Clair Roen read the minutes of the previous meeting and cor- respondance. Mrs. Kathleen Mikkonen read the Treasurer's report. An interest for this type of programme has been indicated and once coaches are secured a formal registration for minor soccer will take place. Next 200 kwhrs @ 4.1¢ per kwhr. Bal. 'kwhrs @ 2.3¢ per kwhr. Minimum bill $3.50 General Billing Demand 50 kwhrs. - No Charge Balance kwhrs - $2.20 kwhr. Energy Charges First 50 kwhrs @ 8.2¢ per kwhr. Next 200 kwhrs @ 4.1¢ per kwhr. Next 9750 kwhrs @ 2.8¢ per kwhr. Balance kwhrs @ 1.7¢ per kwhr. Minimum bill $3.50 : The effect of these rates on a bill with a consumption of 3,000 kwhrs. - bi-monthly would be $82.10 at the new rates as com- pared to $63.85 at the old rates.
