PAGE 8 TERRACE BAY NEWS MARCH 30, 1977 RECREATION DEPARTMENT REPORT: Continued from page 7 NORTH SHORE JUNIOR BADMINTON TOURNAMENT : The North Shore Junior Badminton Tournament will be staged in the community of Geraldton on Saturday, May 7th. This annual Badminton tournament involves students from Grades 7 and 8 from the communities of Manitouwadge, Marathon, Terrace Bay, Schreiber, Red Rock and Geraldton. Mrs. Rosalind Kenney will be coach -ing our local players in this tournament. NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO REGIONAL SPORTS COUNCIL: The Recreation Office has received informa- tion on two very important meetings that will be held in the month of April. Firstly, an area meeting (for North Shore communities) will be held in Marathon this Saturday, April 2nd, at 1:30 p.m. The Sports Council is looking for at least two delegates from each community for this meeting and re- imbursement is available from the Ministry of Culture and Recreation. The agenda for this' Marathon meeting is.as follows: (1) Welcome and introduction (2) What is a Sports Council? How can it help your community, area or district? (3) Sports Plan - what is it? LOCAL RINGETTE PLAYERS HOST EXHIBITION GAME: On Thursday, March 24th, the Terrace Bay Ringette players had their first taste of com- petition this season, with Manitouwadge pro- viding the opposition. Although the Terrace Bay girls tried their best, the Manitouwadge girls managed to capture all three games. The results were as follows: Petits (8-10 yrs. old) - Manitouwadge 10, Terrace Bay 2 - Terrace Bay goals scored by Joyce Kurylo. Tweens (10-13 yrs. old) - Manitouwadge 11, Terrace Bay 1 - Terrace Bay goal scored by Tammy O'Neil. 3 Belles (14-17 yrs. old) - Manitouwadge 11, Terrace Bay 1 - Terrace Bay goal scored by Joyce Kurylo. The Ringette players got off to a slow start this year but they are optimistic and feel they will have a more promising season next year.
