In reporting for the French Language Advis- ory Committee, Trustee M. Cole said that Mr. Butler, the Chairman of the committee, had re- tired and a new Chairman and Vice-Chairman would be appointed at the next meeting. ' Trustee M. Cole reported, on behalf of the Advisory Committee to Caroline McMorland School, that enrollment for 1977-78 was not yet definite and that the committee would like to wait until their June meeting before making a final recommendation about the number of ' staff that would be needed in the coming school year. r The Maintenance Committee recommended that « 4 the services of MacEachern Limited be used for cleaning at the Marathon Public School, in the ~ event that one of the existing custodians who reaches retirement age at the end of August, | does not apply for or is not granted a defer- © ment. It was also agreed that our own Main=- | tenance Working Foremen could look after all | the Honeywell Controls in our schools and, therefore, there was no need to renew existing contracts with Honeywell. It was agreed. that around Marathon Public School, some paving and sodding was needed to meet the Department of Health requests and also to prevent sand and mud etc. being carried into the School. The committee recommended that a long term plan should be drawn uP and budgeted for over a three-year period. List of disbursements in the total amount . of $311,999.22, for the month of February, 1977 was approved. Approval was granted for the Marathon Public. School Grade 7 class to travel to Thunder Bay for 3 days and 2 nights during the week of May 16; '3977, k The feeling was expressed that our students should stay -in billets not motels when on ex- cursions. Service clubs might help and other organizations are usually prepared to welcome visiting student groups and assist them to. find accommodation in private homes. \ Wardrop & Associates Limited was authorized to produce working drawings and specifications' for a gew heating plant in 'he Marathon High a School. It is hoped that a new boiler will be installed before the end of the year and that we will be able, therefore, to generate.our { own steam for the heating of the school.
