Liesander and daughter Devona of Thunder Bay have taken up residence here. Mrs. Liesander is the former Leona Ger- ow who was born and raised in Rossport. Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Douglas of Sioux Narrows, Ontario visited his sister Mrs. Anne Todesco while enroute to holiday in the Sudbury area. Mrs. Hilda Mushquash and daughter Della left Friday to visit her son Peter in Sioux Lookout for a week. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Schelling have returned from a holiday in Florida with relatives. Mrs. Emma Molinski and sons, Lornie and Michael are holidaying in Winnipeg. UCANO MEETING HELD IN ROSSPORT A UCANO meeting (Unorganized Communities Association of Northern Ontario) was conducted in Rossport on Wednesday evening in the Rec- Don Petersen, Secretary- Treasurer of Pass Lake presided. Six rate- " payers were in attendance. The purpose of the meeting was to acquaint the villagers with different problem inves- tigations for the unorganized communities. Special information was given that provides Government Services. "Smoke Detectors with many questions Campaign" was discussed from the floor relevent to their operation, price to the members and how to display - them in the home. The Eye Clinic was thoroughly discussed and we were informed that this service is only offered during the summer months. The possibliity of a dental car being sup- plied to this area was questioned and infor- mation on same. It is impossible for a man with a large family to seek dental care otherwise. The organization is pusing for the fire equipment and fire education program for un- . organized communities. Information was presented regarding the second annual convention of the UCANO (west) to be held April 15, 16 and 17 at the Red Oak Inn in Thunder Bay. Mr. Petersen report- ed that the format of the convention would be on a workshop basis, which would give the delegates a greater amount of information to take back to their communities. ¥ Help was tentatively required for the water supply in the village.
