SEPTEMBER '15, 1976 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 3 ~ 8S. DRIVERS TO STOP FOR SCHOOL BUSES: From pg. 2 Each municipality has the authority to- enact by-laws designating local school bus loading zones. In these loading zones, the school bus driver is not permitted to flash the vehicles alternating red lights. Loading zones have identifying signs. They can be located only on the same side of the road as a school or non-school facility often visited by school children and teachers. A new regulation effective September 1 re- quires motorists to stop when they see a school crossing guard displaying a stop sign while guiding school children across the road. Failure to stop for the sign could make a driver subject to the general penalty of $20. to $100.00. "Ontario lost four children last school year crossing to or leaving their school bus- That's four precious lives too many. We hope this will be a. fatality-free and injury- free year for our young school bus passengers said Mr. Snow. L.A.
