CLOSES The Terrace Bay Canada Manpower Centre for Students will be terminating its summer ser- vices Friday, August 27. The Centre, the first ever for the North Shore area, was given the nod to begin oper- ations Tuesday, May 25. Since this was a pilot project there were, admittedly some flaws and bugs in the inter- nal workings. However, the overall programme could be termed relatively successful. A total of 51 placements were made for the 81 students who registered. Even though the student office will be closing at the end of the week, the Canada Manpower Centre in Thunder Bay will still be sending representatives down on a bi-monthly basis to hold interviews and discuss job opportunities. A fall schedule will be pos- ted in next week's paper. The placement officer, pending gracious consent of the school authorities will be distributing a student information pamphlet in the high schools.giving pertinent facts about the overall job scene in the Terrace Bay, Schreiber area. To the employers who gave their support this summer., a sincere thank you. A special thanks goes out to some great people in the Municipal Office - Mrs. Jan Hall, Mrs. Marg Simmer and Mr. Bill Hanley for their assistance. Good-bye and we may see you next summer. © Larry Fraser. P.S. If you still need students for those last minute summer jobs, remember we're open until the end of the week. It appeared that their first game was against a certain team from Geraldton whose sore Continued page 10
