DECEMBER 23, 1975 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 21 BROWNIE CHRISTMAS PARTY Cont'd.... that got the girls really into the Christmas spirits This year the girls decided that instead of buying a gift to exchange they would donate money that they had earned and give it to the poor, needy children somewhere in the world. Santa had a red velvet Christmas stocking that he collected the money in and as each Brownie made their donation Santa gave them a kiss or a squeeze and they received a candy cane. All the 'leaders were lucky, too. They received a small metal medallion, with Agnes Baden - Powell on it in appreciation of their volunteer work with the Brownies. The highlight of the evening was a Christ- mas cookie decorating contest. Bowls of col- oured icing, a huge selection of decorations and dozens of cookies were supplied by the L.A. The girls had a fantastic time making designs on them. Mrs. Sylvia Lustila and Mrs. Blanche Speck from Birchwood Terrace Senior Citizens Home were the invited guests for the evening to be Ta i the judges. They participated in all thes fun, and even managed to sit on Santa's knee. He promised to visit Birchwood Terrace on his next trip this way. Sylvia and Blanche had a tough time to decide which cookie was the winner and chose two for the prize. A Laura Secord chocolate coin was presented to Jane Colby Hara and Marianne Kostiuk. David Barnett and Diane Jones kindly suppl- |ied the music for a Carol Sing and Christmas skits that the girls did for the entertainment. Photo by Pam Jones.
