Mrs. D'Arcy McGuire Diocesan president announced a regional meeting will be held in Terrace Bay on October 8th. m Mrs. Arthur LeBlanc who is in charge of C.W.L. supplies kept in the town hall requested a motion to purchase additional teaspoons, and that a rental fee be set for the use of tablecloths. Mrs. Ives Henri read minutes of the last meeting and Mrs. D. Connelly gave the treasurer's report. Mrs. Harold McParland who presided for the meeting on September I4th thanked those who had donated and/or helped at the League's 'annual Labour Day event. W.I. Members of the Women's Institute September meeting in Schreiber answered the roll by stating some of their 'pet peeves' rough roads high taxes and the lack of respect by some children for elderly persons. Vacation trips and amusing incidences were described. Current events discussed included the opening of the Medical Centre and the new Cook's Lake dam, attended by many didnitaries and members were urged to cast their vote on election day. Motto for the meeting was "let us not forget to be kind." Mrs. Christine Morris reported sending birthday cards to residents of Birchwood Terrace Home and various other cards to local members. The bride's book has been compiled and will be presented to a local bride. = a The monthly program books were distributed by Mrs. Joe Campbell and thanks were extended to her for compiling them and to Mrs. . Lois Gilmour who typed them. Branch pins and W.I. spoons and a new picture of Mrs. Adelaide Hoddless founder of the W.I. were placed on order. More informa- tion on life memberships will be sought. Mrs. Winnie Clemens presented a report on the Area Convention which she and Mrs. Mavis Slater had attended in Fort Frances, September 9-I0. The main speakers were Mrs. Herb Maluske, presi- dent of the F.W.I.O. and Mrs. Helen McKercher, Home Economics Dept. J Both speakers urged members to undertake difficult projects in order that would develop and grow. They praised the home economi- st for the useful work with youth and the various conveners and officers for their detailed reports. v Mrs. Anne Todesco, who presided for the meeting reported on the North Shore District Board meeting held in Thunder Bay recently when it was agreed positive action should be taken to rectify the- lack of publicity of district meetings and that all bran¢h his- tories should be microfilmed if necessary. Mrs. Winnie Clemens read a paper on education in which she men- ) tioned types of Canadian Schools and the importance of the Student- ' s' Loan Act. She also acclaimed the number of students from the { Schreiber High School who leave each year to further their educa- tion in other centres, mainly in Thunder Bay. A cold plate supper was planned for the October meeting when district officers will be special guests. Mrs. Eunice Bolan won the special draw run by Mrs. Mavis Slater.
