LEGION SWEETHEART SPIEL SUCCESSFUL The Annual Sweetheart Bonspiel of the Sch- reiber Legion was again most successful, with a voiceferous crowd supporting the curlers. Barry Harper was the spiel chairman, his committee being Rene Bedard, Len Hiller, Bill Collinson, Jim Crook, Georgina Dawis, Earline Johnson, Ruth Hiller and Jean Crook. Following the curling a buffet dinner was enjoyed in the Legion, arranged by Mesdames Bobbie Winters, Venita McKenna, Mima Duggan and Chris Fadden. The first event was won by Larry Fraser's rink, second-Ruth Hiller, third-Jack Handel and 4th John Halonen rink. Second event was won by Bina Welbourne rink; 2nd-Edgar LeBlanc; 3rd-Dominic Carmesin rink; 4th-Doug Moore rink. The third event was won by Maureen Phillips rink; 2nd by Barry Harper rink; 3rd Earline Johnson rink and 4th Burton Phillips rink. The biggest end went to John Halonen, and the first knocked-out prize to Jack Handel.
