. MARCH I3, I974 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 15 FOUR GENERATIONS Schreiber is a town proud of its heritage in the annals of railroading and cherishing its many traditions--easily maintained and ob- served in a place where there are twenty four generation families living peaceably with each other. It is believed Schreiber was legally a town -ship before Port Arthur was incorporated as a city. - It's claim to being the centre with the most twins in North America, for its population, has never been challenged and some thought is being given to claiming a world record--for, we are still having twins. But the quality, most mystifying to strang- ers, is its ability to laugh at, and with each other. It follows it is the natural habitat of the practical joke - which the victim enjoys as much as the perpetrators. Time and detail are not counted in these hoaxes which occasion- ally invoives almost the entire community in its success, and which grows richer with the years. And fancy the advantage to ready-witted youngsters (familiar with family anecdotes- who are armed with ready-made alibis for var- ious small peccadiloes! Simply by saying "That's what grandma, or grandpa said - or did" - or, even, upon occasion, reminding parents of their escapades - as quoted by grandparents: And endless are the examples to be cited -- FOUR GENERATION FAMILIES: Victoria (Riley) Mrs. Robert Winters - daughter Ida, Mrs. Gus Krause, son Robert, four sons, two daughters; Victoria (Riley) Winters - son Milton, daughter Patricia, Mrs. Donald Beno, one son; Victoria (Riley) Winters - daughter Freda, Mrs. Con Duggan, -son Jim Duggan, three sons; Arthur Lemieux-daughter Maureen, Mrs. Burton Phillips, daughter Susan, Mrs. Danny Godin, one daughter; Agnes (Weeden) McCouan, son Jack, daughter Myrtle, Mrs. Walter Zapor- zan, four daughters, one son; Agnes (Weeden) McCouan - daughter Louella, Mrs. Archie McCole- man, son Freddie, two daughters. U.C.W. MARCH MEETING The United Church Women, at their March 6th meeting, made donations to Amethyst House, in Thunder Bay and to the Auxiliary to the McCausland Hospital in Terrace Bay. The treasurer's report and minutes of last meeting, were adopted as read by Mrs. Nettie Thrower and Mrs. Helen Wallace. Mrs. Wallace reported on sick and visiting done during February and Mrs. Margaret Spillane on cards sent then. Mrs. Beth Macadam, the president, said the recent bake sale had been most successful, and thanked those who had worked and donated. A new brief case was ordered for the secre- tary. Mrs. Macadam gave a report on the Church Board meeting, and on the service for the World Day of Prayer. It was agreed that members will bring don- ations to the Cancer Cupboard for patients, to the April meeting, and to have a penny auction following the meeting. The Least Coin collection was collected and donated to Mission work. ; Following the meeting two St. Patrick con- tests were arranged with Mrs. Norma Fummerton winning both prizes. Lunch was served by Mesdames Bern Jacomb, Myra Holmes and Norma Fummerton. April lunch hostesses will be Mesdames Aili Lehto, Anne Etches and Nettie Thrower.
