PAGE I4 TERRACE BAY NEWS ® MARCH 6, I974 St. Jean Funeral - continued at his own home which would defeat lesser men - cutting wood, shovelling snow. And it was John's advice, on the route and, almost as important, the supplies to be taken, which en- abled two Americans some years ago to accom- . plish the difficult trip by canoe to Fort Albany. Among those from out of town. attending the funeral were Larry St. Jean, son, Mrs. Mel Ralph, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Cocks, King Holling- er, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Willoughby, Mrs. Edith Willoughby, Miss Candice and Miss Leslie Cott- on, Thunder Bay; Ambrose MacDonald of Levack; Mr. and Mrs. L.G. Munro, White River; Mr. and Mrs. Barry Walsh and family, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Almos, Terrace Bay; and many other friends from nearby communities. ADVICE OFFERED ON NEW HORIZONS' GRANT Mrs. Mary Chadwell of Terrace Bay, presid- ed for the February meeting of the Chimo Sen- ior Citizens' Club, attended by nineteen. Mrs. Angela Martinsen of Thunder Bay, was welcomed as a guest, to offer advice on the spending the New Horizons Grant money. W.T. Wallace and Cyril Sparkes, New Horizons' and Club treasurer, respectively, were disturbed about apparent duplications in bills and diff-| ering amounts quoted. It was agreed that. bills in full would be requested of the Firms in question, before outstanding accounts with, them would be settled. Clifford Riley's offer to open the Club from I0:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., from now until May, was accepted with appreciation. Harry Costall presented a list of proposed house rules which will be studied by the ex- ecutive. Ida Krause reported the wiring in the club has been approved. It was agreed to have a pot luck supper on March I5th to be followed by the general meet- ing and a social evening. ; ; Mrs. Henderson, expressed first, her admir- ation of the club's quarters, it's handsome furnishings and conveniences and, the great advantage of possessing the entire building, instead of a few rooms. Questioned by the members regarding finan- ces, she said the realizes and understandings that in estimating a budget for the first year, particularly in this case, where reno- vations on a whole building were required, mistakes will be made; in some departments, too much might be estimated and in others too little. But, as long as the money is spent on the Club, and duly accounted for, in bills to cover expenditures, there can be no prob- lems. ~ In some instances, money used from thé N.H. Fund must be repaid into it, but, the borrow- ing is quite in order. She agreed that involvement of the commun- " ity in various ways would be advantageous to the Club, making several suggestions regard- ing this.
