Recreation News Terrace Bay Swim Team to Compete in Northwestern Ontario Championships: The Terrace Bay swim team will be travelling to Thunder Bay this coming Saturday, August 26th, to compete in the annual Northwestern Ontario Swimm- ing Championships. The meet will be held af the Wid+ nall Pool in Thunder Bay and will get underway at 9:30 a.m. lt is important fo note that two summers ago the Terrace Bay swim team won their division in the Northwestern Ontario championships. We are hopeful that our swim team will put in their best effort at the meet. Final Swim Tests: All swimmers will be notified by their respective instructors this week as to the day and time of their tests. ANYONE REQUIRING INFORMATION ON SWIM TESTS, BE SURE TO CONTACT THE SWIM POOL STAFF. The Red Cross tests will be held next Tuesday, August 29th. Other tests will be scheduled prior to that date so be sure to check with your instructor for specific day and time. The Swim Pool staff will be letting all swimmers know the day and time of their tests. Northwestern Ontario Track & Field Training Camp: A track and field training camp will be held at Hammarskjold High School in Thunder Bay from August 30th to September 2nd. There will virtually be no cost for this 4-day training camp as all participants will be billeted in private homes. This clinic is open to anyone interested in attending. Transportation will be provided by the sponsors of the training camp. Each participant will be required to bring their appropriate clothing and enough money for incidental costs. Call the Rec. Office for more information. Swim Pool Awards Night - August 31st: The annual Swim Pool Awards Night will be held next Thursday, August 31st, in the Curling Lounge of the Recreation Centre, starting at 6:30 p.m. Presentations for swim meets, swim tests and the Duriez Trophy will highlight the evening. Plan to attend. Roller Skating Continues: Sessions for roller skating continue to be held on Wednesday evenings from 7 to 9 in the arena. Be sure to have your Recreation disc to take advantage of the preferred rate for members. Playground Entertainment Night Highly Successful: A little over 200 people attended the Playground Entertainment Night which was held on Thursday, August 17th, at the Terrace Bay Campus auditorium. It was extremely encouraging to see so many parents attend this official wind-up of the Playground pro- gramme. Those in attendance were able to see the Playground children in action, doing such things as skits, songs, etc. The Playground programme for this summer was extremely successful as a little over 4,000 children attended Playground sessions. If is hoped that next year the Playground program will be extended by one additional week so that children can fake ad- vantage of this programme for the full summer.
