Mrs. Lester McCuaig and Mrs. Bill Furlonger have returned after attending a D'Arcy family reunion, carried on each year since 1924 in Michigan. Alex McCuaig of Toronto accompanied them and en route home they visited with several relatives in Toronto. Mrs. Charlie Pearson is visiting Mr. and Mrs. Peter Kachur (Marilyn Pearson) in Roketon, Man. Mr. and Mrs. Brian Duncan of Wawa visited Mr. and Mrs. Len O'Brian and while here attended Mrs. Duncan's sister's graduation. Patrick and Mary Lynn O'Brian recently visited their uncle Thomas John O'Brian in North Bay and their sister Mr. and Mrs. D'Arcy McDonald. Mr. and Mrs. Sten Lif and family of Cochenour, recently visited with Mr. and Mrs. L. O'Brien. Legion Field Day The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 109 will have its annual Field Day this year on August 7th, all events at the Legion Hall. The program will begin with the Children's costume parade, with Jack Handel as marshall. J.K. Davis will manage the races which will take place immedia- tely after the parade. J.R. Winters' committee will give out the free treats of balloons and popsicles. Attractions during the afternoon will be continuous bingo, subject to license from the town; food booths offering hamburgers, hot dogs, cabbage rolls, etc.; and in the evening their will be a cabaret dance, when the ticket for the draw prize of the day will be drawn. Piano Exams The following were the successful candidates in piano examinations held in Schreiber by the Western Ontario Conservatory of Music, London. Grade 1-Honors-Brenda Cebrario; Pass-Leslie R. Thompson. Grade 8-First class honors-Theodore J. Ross; Honors-Mary Bourke, Mary Patricia McGrath. Grade 6-pass-Mary Jo Ryan. Grade 5-Honors- Kimberly L. Karns, Karen L. Lamoureux. Grade 4- Honors-Colleen B. Ryan, Tina Ellicott; Donna Gellert equal. Grade 3-Honors-John M. Cebrario. Theory, grade 1-first class honors-Mary Jo Ryan. REBEKAH LODGE PRESENTS JEWELS At a recent meeting of Ruby Rebekah Lodge, veteran jewels were presented to Mrs. Florence Fischer, Mrs. Lorraine Weaver, Mrs. Mary Husband, and Mrs. Stella Kuczma. Mrs. Beth Macadam will present a jewel to Mrs. H. Bryant in Pinewood Court Home at a later date. Mrs. Mavis Slater, President of the Rebekah Assembly of Ontario, was escorted into the lodge room by Mrs. Alice Farrow, PNG and welcomed by the Noble Grand, Mrs. Gladys Hamilton and the members. Mrs. G. Higgins of Thunder Bay was also welcomed as a visitor. Mrs. Alice Sparkes presented a report of the reception on June 24th for Mrs. Slater. Over two hundred guests had enjoyed the dinner and program . Mrs. Slater thanked the lodge for their assistance in organizing such a pleasant event and for all the cards and gifts she had received. The noble grand congratulated Mrs. Slater for attaining such a high office and offered her best wishes in her future endeavours. Mrs. Florence Fischer reported on the sale of the afghan tickets. Mrs. M. Hubelit had won the draw and members were thanked for selling the tickets and special thanks went to Mrs. Norma Fummerton who knitted the afghan. A committee was named with Mrs. Hamilton as convener to prepare a luncheon on July 12th for the students of the United Nations Pilgrimage Bus Tour, which will pass through Schreiber. Mrs. Hamilton announced she had presented the lodge bursary to Miss Geraldine McBride of Schreiber at the High School graduation exercises on June 23. Mrs. Chris Morris was named to replace Mrs. W. Clemens at a meeting of the Rebekah District Asso- ciation at Silver Harbour on June 29th. Mrs. Beth Macadam and Mrs. Slater will also attend this meeting. Members of the Sully family presented a new Bible to the lodge in memory of their late mother, Mrs. Agnes Sully, a charter member of the Lodge. It will be dedicated at a special service at the next meeting. Initiation. ceremonies will be carried out at the meeting on September 13. Mrs. Slater will pay her official visit to the lodge on December 13th. The President also invited all Ruby Lodge members to a social evening at her home on Sunday, July 2nd. After the meeting, lunch was served by the social committee.
