Miss Betty McGuire, who received her B.A. from Queen's University this year, is home visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. D'Arcy McGuire before leaving for an extended holiday in France. Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Alex Power recently were Mr. and Mrs. Pat Comerford, of Killaloe, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Coulas, and Mr. and Mrs. J. Russell of Renfrew. Mrs. Lester McCuaig has returned home after an extended visit with Mr. and Mrs. Burke Trowsse (her daughter Jil) in Dartmouth, N.S. Mr. and Mrs. Frank McCuaig and Rick McCuaig of Capreol spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Lester McCuaig. Melanie Ross was home from Ottawa visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Neil Ross this week. Mr. and Mrs. A. Sedore of Aurora and Mr. and Mrs. Steve Morrill of Thunder Bay are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Ray Sisson and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Morrill. ; Mrs. Bella French of Smith Falls and Mr. and Mrs. Percy Page of Thunder Bay are the guest of Mrs. Tommy Whent visiting also with their'many other relatives in town. Mr. Whent was in Toronto with Bill Malcolm, to attend the Moose convention and later went on to visit relatives in Burlington. Pat Gilbie of Hamilton, spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Furlonger. Anyone still wishing to join the Schreiber Figyre Skating Club may contact Jane Bailey - 824-2729. There are some 50 already enrolled and the season appears fo be a bright one. Visitors during Thanksgiving weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. Clemens were Miss Edith Clemens from Lakehead University and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Heino and son Ron of Thunder Bay. Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Clemens have left to spend a vacation in Wiarton and Owen Sound. The Schreiber Fire Brigade are holding their annual Halloween costume ball on October 29th, as a cabaret party in the high school. This event, for over 30 years, has been a community conspiracy, when for at least two months, costumes are origin= ated, and achieved, in utmost secrecy. To be presented and, for the most part, so artfully pre- sented that the actors are never guessed! The door prize, sponsored by everyone, and whether one attends or not, is a community pleasure = and the generous costume prizes are awarded to those who risk unmasking at midnight. ART OF COSMETICS INTERESTING TO C.W.L. Mrs. Rita McGrath presided for the October meeting of the Catholic Women's League, Holy Angels Council, held on the 14th instead of the regular night. Mrs. McGrath welcomed Mrs. Webster, district manager of Avon Products, who presented a most attractive display of their cosmetics and gave an interesting talk on the art of using cosmetics. Using Mrs. Joanne Webb and Mrs. Jack Stokes as models she demonstrated how the use of such beauty aids enhances both the younger and the older woman. Mrs. lleen Williamson, the local agent, accompanied Mrs. Webster, and on be- half of the members Mrs. Norah McGuire thanked them and presented each with a cup and saucer in appreciation. Father F.J. Meyer, who has been appointed chairman of the diocesan liturgical commission, spoke on the makeup of the new hymnbooks for the church which will be available in February 1972. Mrs. Claire Power urged members to attend the Rosary which will be said daily at 2 p.m, during October for World Peace and Vocations. continued page 16.........
