This rink claimed the rare eight ender, and aft this time were presented with an eight-ender pin and a miniature silver curling rock, courtesy of Corby Distilleries, Ltd. Winner of the Golf Tournament, Gordon Calder, was presented with the Legion Golf Award. A hilarious skit, Learning to Play Golf, was well done by Pat Jones and David Gunter. The legion Belles presented a musical number, to the great enjoyment of all present. Dancing, fo the music of George Churney and David Mercier was enjoyed. Thursday, November 11 = Royal Canadian Legion Auxiliary Poppy Day Tea, Bazaar and Bake Sale. MILES FOR MUSIC WALKATHON SUCCESSFUL The Ladies Auxiliary of the Community Church held their regular meeting on Monday evening, in the Church hall. Mrs. Gertrude Soughton chair- ed the meeting in the absence of the president, Mrs. Barb Wise. Mrs. Lil Harris was in charge of the Worship period, with Mrs. Clara Gould playing for the hymn. Mrs. Pam Jones gave the secretary's report and read the correspondence. This included a letter from the Official Board of the Church, stating that raffles are not to be allowed at the Christmas bazaar. A letter was read from the Catholic Women's League of St. Martin's Church, asking the auxiliary if they were interested in supporting the Anti- abortion campaign, Project 100,000. The address was given where letters could be sent. Mrs. Gould gave the sick and visiting repori. Mrs. Farrow gave the treasurer's report. Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Lundberg reported on the sale of the Praying Hand Pens, and a suggestion was made that these might be sold at the bazaar. Mrs. Brooks gave a report on the Miles for Music Walkathon, where over 700 was realized, with still more returns to be made. Mrs. Brooks made a presentation to Mrs. Clara Gould, who polled the largest number of sponsors, and made the most money for the Memorial Organ Fund. The Christmas bazaar was discussed, with all tables going ahead with their plans. Mrs. Harris would appreciate help with the aprons, Mrs. Judy Rogers, with her Barbie doll clothes. Mrs. Duriez is still looking for articles for her New to You table. Mrs. Vanderkam will accept articles for the Touch and Take Table. Mrs. Lundberg introduced Mr. Ken Macleod, principal of the Terrace Bay Public School, who was the guest speaker for the evening. Mrs. Macleod is interested in making the Sunday school more mean ingfull and appealed to the ladies for their help and suggestions along these lines. Mr. Bert Lohr, 'Christian Education Chairman, also spoke on the needs of the Sunday School . Mrs. Soughton thanked Mr. Macleod and Mr. Lohr for attending the meeting, and assured them that anything the Ladies Auxiliary could do to help was offered to them. Mrs. T. Dorland and Mrs. Soughton served lunch. C.W.L. PLAN REMEMBRANCE DAY SERVICES The monthly meeting of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Women's League was held in the Church hall Sunday at 8:30 p.m. The meeting, chaired by Mrs. M. Dashkewyich, opened with League prayers. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved ana the treas- urer's report was given. Mrs. Kettle then read a passage from My Daily Bread. Mrs. Roberts re- minded the League that "Project 100,000" is draw- ing fo a close and urged everyone who has not yet written a letter, to do so before October 18.
