McBRIDE HONORED ON RETIREMENT Mrs. Harriet McBride, who is retiring after four=- teen years service with Chapples Firm in Schreiber was honored at a staff dinner party attended by both former and present fellow employees. The dinner was given in the Restaurant LeBlanc, the table centred with a birthday cake and on behalf of the others, Mrs. Lila Walker, the manager, presented a handsome electric wristwatch to Mrs. McBride. Attending the party were Mr. and Mrs. Jack Johnson, of Geraldton, Mrs. Anne Moore of Dryden, Mrs. Muriel Auger, of Thunder Bay, Mesdames Kay Furyk, Elsie Ross, Alice McCouan, Liz Prescott, Betty Ryan and Bart Kusik. Congratulatory messages were received from Alex Tweedy, Geraldton and Mrs. Elizabeth Perrault, Thunder Bay who were unable to attend the party. hi ROSSPORT TOWNTOPICS Mr. and Mrs. C. Wilde and daughters were home over the weekend from Thunder Bay. Mr. and Mrs. R. Bouchard and children spent the weekend in White River. Mrs. Mary Mushqush has left to visit relatives in Geraldton. Mr. and Mrs. Geo Phillips of Thunder Bay were here this week with their small yacht the "Nina". They holidayed cruising along the North Shore and among the islands in the bay. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Harris of Toronto visited the Todesco family during the week. The yacht "Sea Sue" out of Hancock, Mich. was anchored here for a couple of days this week. Mr. and Mrs. H.R. Carr have returned to Clarion, lowa after a holiday at their summer home at Selim Beach. The weather man co-operated with the participants in in the annual Parish Picnic sponsored by Holy Angels Church at Rossport Park Sunday afternoon. Bright sunny weather kept the vendors of the cold pop and ice cream booth busy, while members of the various church organizations sold hot dogs, hambur- gers, pies, pork and beans, macaroni, cabbage rolls, buns and coffee. Various novelty booths were also well paternized. The project was decidedly a "successful event with many people present from Terrace Bay, Rossport, Schreiber and Nipigon. Robert Bouchard was home over the weekend from Ripple, Ontario. Russell Bruley of Thunder Bay spent a few days at his summer camp here this week. Norma and Warren DuPee of Grand Rapids, Mich. who spent a couple of weeks here on a fishing trip have left to motor to Vancouver where they will board a cruise ship to Alaska. Miss Camilla Todesco, B.A., M.S.W., of Win- dsor has arrived to holiday with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Chas Todesco. Mrs. Hilda Mushqush has returned from McCausland Hospital, Terrace Bay. Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Stewart have returned to Minneapolis, Minn. after a holiday at their summer camp. Mr. and Mrs. Jas Lanigan of Maymooth, Ont. and Mr . and Mrs. Ray Morgan of Peterboro, Ont. visited Ronald Lanigan and the Dave Mushqush fam- ily this week enroute to Vancouver, B.C. Fred W. Switzer of Minniapolis who has been coming here the past thirty years on a fishing trip holiday has arrived and is a guest at Rossport Inn. Mr. and Mrs. E. Smith of St. Thomas, Ont., Miss Micheline Pelletier, Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Campure of Dundas, Ont. are here on their annual fishing trip. Mr. and Mrs. Beryl Ray of Washburn, Wisc. are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Ray Kenney. Messers Warren Wiese, Harry Burlum and Edward Zamzow of Eau Claire, Wisc. arrived for their annual fishing trip here. The Recreation Committee showed the movies "Pad~ dle to the Sea" and "Slap Stick" in the recreation centre Friday evening to a full house. Pop corn and pop were on sale. continued page 18 ......
