Prior to her marriage the bride was entertained at a community shower in the United Church hall, at a kitchen shower arranged in the home of Mrs. Bill Malcolm and at a miscellaneous shower held by friends in the home of Mrs. Jack McCouan, her aunt. U.N. BUS TOUR VISITS SCHREIBER The United Nations Bus tour, with thirty-six students and three directors, again made a rest halt in Schreiber and were served a buffet turkey dinner which they obviously enjoyed. The students are chosen from essays which they write and are from across Canada.and the United States, the one coming here from western United States and Canada. The annual event is sponsored by the Oddfellows and Rebekah Lodges, the only organizations allowed to take such a group into the United Nations. During the meal an entertaining interval occurrs when the students identify themselves, name their home town, and humourously brag about its impor- tance. This year there were some lively exchanges when towns in valleys blamed cities above them for smog and pollution conditions. The grace was offered by the Rev. F.J. Meyer and the final blessing by the Rev. Arthur Chabot. Reeve F.V. Harness gave the official civic welcome. Others speaking were George Birch, for the Oddfellows, Mrs. Christine Morris for Rebekahs. Mrs. Mavis Slater, vice president of the Rebekah Assembly of Ontario, described the detail and work which goes into the project, adding that shortly after this group were on their way, she was going east to be a director with another bus load from southern Ontario. , Officials on the bus included Artie Taylor, of Port Albernie, B.C ., director, assisted by Mrs. Lorraine Rainsbury and Mrs. Opal Rainsbury, of Orville, Wash. with Ed Dimples of Winnipeg as the driver. Mrs. Agnes Bryson was hostess at the public school which was used for rest room facilities. The committee working included Mesdames Helen Wallace, Edith lbey, Harriet McBride, Ann Laine, Marion Simon, lleen Williamson, Agnes Bryson and Mavis Slater.
