RECREATION BRIEFS - By Jerry Dupas PLAYGROUND PROGRAMME A reminder to boys and girls, ages 5 years and up, that this year's Playground schedule will begin, Monday, July 5th. The 5 to 6 year olds will attend from 9:00 to 11 :00 a.m. Because of the Swimming Pool schedule, there will be no programme during the afternoons this year. The 7 to 9 year olds will attend from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.; 10 to 12 years, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., and a programme for anyone 13 years of age and over will be run from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. This year, as in the past, the Playground programme will operate Monday through Friday. The Playground Supervisor for this year's programme is Miss Judy Mclnnes, with Donna Chapman, Jim Gerlach and -Cathy Melnyk attending as Playground leaders. Frances Cooke and Branda Chapman will attend as volunteers. Parents are invited to visit the Playground any day in the Arts and Craft Room of the Recreation Centre. The Playground staff hopes to introduce many new activities this summer so let's have a good turnout and make it the best summer yet. SCAVENGER HUNTS This year, as part of the Playground programme, a number of scavenger hunts will be held in the com- munity. By using ordinary household articles, the children try to create new and exciting crafts by using their own imagination. Articles such as old jars, cigarettes packages, paper, bathroom tissue, and newspapers make up the majority of items that are collected during a scavenger hunt. Parents are asked to save these and other articles to enable the children of the Playground to collect them during a scheduled scavanger hunt.
