PAGE 4 JUNE 30, 1971 FIELD DAY AT MARATHON The Public Schools under the Lake Superior Board of Education held a track and field meet at Marathon on June 22nd. Those participating from the various schools were transported by the school bus. Some of the events were the 75 yard dash, 220 and 440 yard dash, high jump, running long jump, standing broad jump and shotput. The winner of the district was Manitouwadge with a score of 103, followed by Alexander School of Marathon with 57, Terrace Bay with 39, Stephens Ave. School of Marathon 36 and Schreiber 27. It was a very exciting day for all of us. - Leslie Josus, Terrace Bay Public School. PUBLIC SCHOOL PLAY DAY On the morning of Tuesday, June 22nd, the ; Terrace Bay Public School held its annual Play Day. The nine events which all the students participated in were: Skiing, basketball, obstacle course, dribbling the ball, bean bag kick, donkey kick, soccer, tug of war and the always welcome rest stop. Grade seven students organized the games and the grade eight students were captains of the teams. The winning teams' happy captain was Carol Brown, tied for second place were the teams of Valdec Hirt and Alan Dortand, with Dean Mackeod third. Everyone co-operated to make this a most enjoyable morning for students dnd teachers. - Norma Phillips, Terrace Bay Public School. ART CLUB RECESS FOR SUMMER The Terrace Bay Art Club held their final meeting for the season on June 3rd. Mrs. Anne McKie pres- ident, presided and secretary Mrs. Marg Pederson read her report. It was decided a draw for an original oil painting by Mrs. M. Middaugh (on display in the Credit Union) will be raffled on October 30th. Tickets are available from any art club member-. It was also decided there would be no exhibit this year. i There being no further business the meeting was adjourned. The Art Club will resume in early September. New members are welcome.
