JUNE 23, 1971 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 13 SCHREIBER cm c---------------- -- -- PUBLIC SCHOOL GRADUATION EXERCISES The Graduating Class of Schreiber Public School wishes to invite the public to Graduation Exercises to be held, Monday, June 28, 1971 at 8:00 p.m. in the Schreiber High School . TOWN TOPICS Mrs. Dennis Bouchie, (nee Mary Ellen Gerow), was honored by her friends at a shower tea held in St. Andrew's church hall. Receiving with her were Mrs. Bill Gerow, her mother, Mrs. N. Bouchie, her mother-in-law, and Mrs. Jack Stokes. Kathy Guina was in charge of the guest book and the gifts were opened by Mrs. Andy Miller and Mrs. Bob McParland. Tea pourers were Mrs. Nellie Gerow and Mrs. Jim Gray grandmother and aunt of Mrs. Bouchie, and Mrs. Russell Macadam and Mrs. Bruce Simon. Servitors were the Misses Anna Fummerton, Muriel Holmes, Karen Guina, Cathy Stokes, Muriel Nes- bitt and Mesdames Ray Sisson, W.T. Wallace and Russell Saarinen. Kitchen committee were Mesdames Pat Giona, Tommy Whent, Harold Gellert and Lester McCuaig. Mr. and Mrs. William Kemp have returned to their home in South Devon, England, after visiting their aunt, Mrs. Della Moore. Mr. and Mrs. Don Tremblay were in North Bay to see their daughter Heather graduate from Cam- brian College in a Secretarial Arts course. REBEKAH'S PLAN SUMMER & FALL PROGRAMS Mrs. Beth Macadam, N.G. and Mrs. Gladys Hamilton, B.G. presided for the June 9th meeting of Ruby Rebekah Lodge, welcoming Mrs. Lillie Legault of Montreal as a guest. The vice grand gave| the sick and visiting report and the C .P.T. committ=- ee report. Each member was asked to donate two prizes to the penny auction on September 17th. The draw prize will be an electric blanket and tickets for this will be distributed at the next meeting. One family was given assistance. The ways and means committee have planned a Summer and Fall program. A travelling apron on which patches will be sewn by each member and a travelling bake sale with a list of names are to be circulated among the members during summer recess. Letters for the Make-Believe tea will be distributed at the next meeting. Other projects were mentigned for the remaining months of the year. A committee comprised of Mesdames Helen Wallace Lillian Christie, Chris Morris, Hariet McBride, Mavis Slater, Florence Fischer with Mrs. Gladys Hamilton convening, will arrange the luncheon to be served to forty people travelling in the United Nations Bus Tour on July 14th. A letter of appreciation will be sent to the Rev. E. McKague of Terrace Bay for the memorial service on June 6th. After second nomination the following officers were elected: = Mrs. Gladys Hamilton = noble grand; Mrs. Glorie Miller - vice grand; Mrs. Winnie Clem- ens - recording secretary; Mrs. Helen Wallace - fin- ancial secretary; Mrs. Alice Sparkes - treasurer; Mrs. Georgina Davis - trustee. Following the meeting penny auction was played, followed by a dessert lunch. Each member was asked to bring a lunch of her own choice to the next meeting. W.l. RECESS FOR SUMMER MONTHS Thirteen members answered roll call at the Women's Institute meeting with cards and stamps for the card secretary supplied. They also displayed their wedding pictures, show=- ing many changes in appearance and the style of wedding dresses worn then and now. Mrs. Chris Morris, who presided, thanked members for their donations and work at the recent penny auction, a most successful event. ; A donation was sent to the Canadian Bible Society. It was reported that Miss Barbara Weese has been appointed to replace Mrs. Sandra Scollie as Home Economist, the latter having retired. Gingerbread receipes were given to members for entries in the Canadian Lakehead Exhibition 0» June 26 - July 3. A letter of congratulation on the Branch's 44th anniversary was received from Reeve F.V. Harness. Mrs. Winnie Campbell reported on the annual con= vention held in Upsala. The McDonald Institute project has been completed and a campaign is now open for the Erland Lee Home. An Institute Rally will be held in Thunder Bay on October 21st.
