McCAUSLAND BURSARY-SCHOLARSHIP ~ Applications are invited from students wishing to be considered for the Dr. McCausland Bursary- Scholarship Award at the end of the present term. Eligibility of Students: Students must be residents of Terrace Bay, Schreiber or Rossport, Ontario and registered in full time attendance in Grade 12 or 13 in any accredited High School in Ontario, during the school year in which award is granted, or have attended full time during a previous school year if already in attendance at an institution of higher learning. Awards shall be restricted to deserving students of good character who continue their formal education in an institution of higher learning. Value of Award: The value of the award is based on the interest earned on the Principal invested and this should normally produce three hundred and fifty dollars ($350.00) per year. Payment of Award: The Dr. McCausland Bursary- Scholarship Award shall be paid during the fall term after receipt of certification, by the head or registering official of an eligible institution, that the student is enrolled.. Should a student selected for an award fail to en- roll in an institution of higher learning under the conditions outlined above, then the award shall be for feited. The award will be made available to another eligible student at the discretion of the Trustees. : if there are no eligible students for the award in any school year, then the Trustees may consider granting the award to former students of Terrace Bay Schreiber and Rossport who are already in attendance at an institute of higher learning and are in need of financial «id to continue their education. Mrs. Lil Harris read the minutes and gave the treasurer's report. Under correspondence the subject of the annual Tailors and Launderers sale of Maple Syrup was discussed. Due to higher labor costs, the price per gallon of Maple syrup de- & livered by Mr. Morrison, to Terrace Bay, has gone up to $9.00 per gallon. Being an increase of only one dollar over last year, it was decided to order as usual, and contact members who were absent and advise them of the slight rise in price. Mrs. Schritt thanked all the ladies who had helped with the Eastern Star dinner. Miss Sharon Brown has issued an appeal for old used eye glasses, particularly for the frames, which can be used for needy children, who perhaps cannot afford new frames. These may be left with Mrs. Schritt. Mrs. Hilda Hiebert announced she has received the wool for the knitting table at the bazaar, and was looking for knitters. : Articles for the Crippled Civilians Centre in Toron=" to, such as used appliances, will be collected at : the next meeting. Good used clothing will also be collected and sorted, with the best of it being sent to the Drop In Centre in Thunder Bay North. There has been a special appeal for good used clean men's underwear, to be sent to the Drop In Centre. i All types of greeting cards are still being collected = to make scrap books for the Mentally Retarded : children. a Mrs. Schritt closed the meeting with a short prayer. She then introduced Mrs. Peggy Helmink president of the Association of the Mentally Retarded who showed an excellent film on retarded children and their care, entitled "Child, You are Welcome". Mrs. Harris presented a cheque to Mrs. Helmink, to be used by the Association. Lunch was served by Mrs. Ursula Wills and Mrs. Vera Kennedy.
