PAGE 12 TERRACE BAY NEWS MARCH 31, 1971 RECREATION BRIEFS - by Jerry Dupas GIRLS" RINGETTE TOURNAMENT SUCCESSFUL A total of 8 teams took part in the North Shore Invitational Ringette Tournament held in Terrace Bay on Tuesday, March 23rd. Breakdown of the teams was as follows: Wawa = 3 teams; Manitouwadge - 2 teams; Terrace Bay - 2 teams; Red Rock = 1 team. Winner of the tournament was the Manitouwadge JETTES and runner-up was Wawa. Winner of the con- solafion event was Manitouwadge COMETTES and runner-up was Terrace Bay SABRES. : A number of the games resulted in good play iin and were very interesting to watch. It is hoped that other communities along the North Shore will attempt to run this popular winter girls activity to enable inter-community competition to take place more of- ten. Our local girls are interested in making one out-of-town trip before the season ends, and at the time of this write-up arrangements were being made to send two Terrace Bay teams to Manitouwadge in early April. : Since the sport of Ringette seems to meet with the interest of a good number of girls, the Recreation Department will be lowering the age limit for Rin- gette to 10 years of age next season.
