DECEMBER 3, 1970 TERRACE BAY NEWS TO THE PEOPLE OF TERRACE BAY There is a rumor going around that | was afraid to qualify. Till my dying days | will never forget | had forgot to qualify on November 23. | waited for this elec- tion for so long that is all that | was talking about on the 23 but it never entered my mind that | had to qualify. | was so careful on nominations night that | made no mistakes that | let the two person who nominated me to go and inquiry if everything was in order. The Reeve and Council and the town clerk knew that | was going to run but not one said pick up the phone and find out from Willie if he was going to qualify. The town clerk could of reminded me. The Reeve who claims that he does everything in the Democratic way why did he not tell the clerk so he could get the feeling of the people by the ballot but that was to much of a risk because he knew he was beat. To these people who are spreading this rumor where were you on nomination night why did you not let your name stand. What are you afraid of . Yes this day | will never forget because there was so much to do as Reeve. One of the first items on agenda would be Lake- view. That any person buying a lot from the company would have to pay for tying into our sewer. Any person who is on council would not profit in any way in any dealing with the town. The stores would cut their own grass and clean their own grass because we do not have to cater to the store the stores should cater to you people as they make their money of you. That there would be no more vacation trip on the town only town business all other trips are a waste of tax payers money . | was going to take the town from the 14th century to 1970 where all tax payers have a equal right. They tell you that you got everything for nothing, but you paid for everything you got. How many people who owned homes that your taxes went down after assessment. Where was this extra money go that you were paying. | also wanted to make the small tax payer feel that his money also was playing a big part in the operation of the town. : All the talking | did and then forgot to qualify. | could of had a field day of playing the game of cat and mouse in council . So to you people | forgot. But | am going to form PAGE 19 a rate payers assogiation but this time we are going to have people at the head of it who are interested in their town business. All persons interested please fill in below and send to me and | will get the machine in motion. So to you Reeve and Council you all could of put a feather in your cap the night you held your meeting was to call and ask if | was running as you could get the feeling of the people at the ballot. To the people who were depending on me | say | am sorry. To the ones spreading rumor there is a head shrinker in the Lakehead go and have your head examined. P.S. Instead of spreading rumor as the Reeve to call an election for reeve and get the opinion of the people. Signed, W. Adamo. ARE YOU IN FAVOUR OF A RATE PAYERS ASSOCIATION SIGN HERE . Name Send to W.
