7 MR. E, PERSS i - BOX 375 ; . TERRACE B/Y Vol. 13 No. 49 Serving The District December 3, 1970 "COUNCIL QUOTES When Terrace Bay Town Council met on Tuesday evening, the only item of business arising from the minutes was that the newly appointed Crossing Guards are working out very well, and Council is pleased with the results. Correspondence included a letter from the Lake Superior Board of Education, advising them that a crash program in traffic safety would be held in the elementary schools, where members of the O.P.P. would work in conjunction with the local police force in instructing pupils in the necessary rules of traffic safety. Clerk Hanley mentioned that John Scott, the newly installed officer for Northern Affairs, in Marathon, had stopped into the office to make himself known, and assure the people of Terrace Bay that he may be called upon request. A letter of commendation from Town Council was sent to Mrs. Marsh, recent editor of the Terrace Bay News, thanking her for her co-operation and assist- ance over the years. A letter was sent to the towns of Marathon, Sch- reiber and Manitouwadge, detailing the forthcoming meeting on December 9th, regarding Design for De- velopment for Northwestern Ontario to be held in the Recreation Centre . No sooner had the bus pulled in when some sick person or persons threw red paint all over the wind- shield and hood of the Marathon bus, as well as on the south wall of the arena. Apologies on the part of these sick people were immediately made to the Marathon crew by members of the Terrace Bay Junior Hockey executive. In addition, the president of the Terrace Bay Juniors had to spend a few hours cleaning up the mess as best he could to put the bus into presentable shape. What a proud moment for our town! AGAIN, NO ONE SEEMED TO SEE THE VANDALISM TAKE PLACE. How convenient! Sometimes you just can't understand these witless acts of vandalism, and sometimes it doesn't seem - worth the effort to try and understand them. Let's stop this foolishness and start reporting per- sons guilty of these acts = after all, there are a good number of citizens who take a great deal of pride in our community. An act of vandalism such as this certainly makes us wonder whether or not the work we have put into the establishment of a Junior club for Terrace Bay is worth it.
