TEACHER OF THE WEEK One of our new teachers at Schreiber High School is Mr. Durham from Sheffield, England where he graduated from university. Before Mr. Durham began teaching he worked in the Guided Weapons Research for four years. He taught Mathematics for the next nine years in England. In July 1968 he immigrated to Canada and taught in a school of 2400 students in Toronto. Mr. Durham now teaches Mathematics at Schreiber High. He enjoys outdoor activities such as working in the woods, fishing, soccer, tennis and other sports. His wife and ten year old daughter also enjoy the northern countryside. We extend our wishes to the Durhams for a happy stay while living in the community of Schreiber. SCHREIBER "KIN" CORNER On Monday, October 5th the Kinsmen club of Schreiber met at Restaurant LeBlanc for their monthly supper meeting. A business session followed at the home of Kin Bob Cressman. President Michael Cosgrove presided and it was de- cided that Kins Michael Reid, Ron Wood and George Riley would accompany him to the District Fall Council at Pilot Mound, Manitoba on October 16th, 17th and 18th. The Schreiber club will celebrate its 25th anniver- sary on Friday, December 4th. All former members of the Schreiber Kinsmen Club are asked to contact Kins Bob Cressman or Michael Reid prior to Octobe: 3st. Kin Neil Truman, the chairman of the New Years Dance informed the membership of the current plams for the event. The "Midnight Hour" will provide the music and the dancing will take place in the Schreiber High School gymnasium. He will be selling tickets to this "gala" affair, later on a "first come" basis. A lengthy discussion, involving ways of assisting the Schreiber Curling Club ensued. It was the con- sensus of the membership, that this club had been a definite asset to Schreiber and community, and it was hoped that it would continue. Accordingly, Kins Pat Conly, Bob Cressman, Alex Gordon and Bev Stewart were appointed to serve with representatives of the Curling Club for the purpose of amortizing the mortgage and planning activities. : President, Michael Cosgrove announced that Kingo cards would soon be available for the citizens of Rossport, Schreiber and Terrace Bay. These cards are sold for fifty cents and can lead to prizes of one thousand and two thousand dollars. Citizens are en= couraged fo reserve their cards with any member of the Kinsmen Club of Schreiber. The meeting ended with a social period. SCHREIBER DISTRICT COURT NEWS The following were charged in District Court last week - James M. Ballantyne - speeding = $23.00; Frank Costa = discharge of fire crackers = warrant issued; Ronald D. Lunam - warrant issued; Joseph Papineau = comsume liquor under 21 - $15.00; { Giovanni Racioppi - fail to report collision = $22.50; William B. Ross = speeding ~ $23.00; and Dale Gullifer - possession of loaded fire arm = $27.00 Mrs. Lilian Christie has returned from a holiday spent in Victorial, B.C. with Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Hume . Mr. and Mrs. Bob Gray and Mr. and Mrs. Bert LaFrance of Timmins are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Lidkea. Boyd Drake is enjoying a six months tour of Europe. STORK LI BORN to Mr. and Mrs. Antonio Pasqualino of Schreiber, 5 Lay on October 10th.
