PAGE 10 TERRACE BAY NEWS AUGUST 27,1970 see sso Buck's Trip Overseas - cont'd from page 9 much of the stage is open to the sky, and swallows flit in and out. The performance takes almost seven hours, beginning with Jesus entering Jerusalem on a live donkey, with the jubilant singing of Hosannas, by the massed choir and orchestra, on through the parting of friends at Bethany, the Last Supper, the scene in the Garden of Gethsemane, to the burning kiss of Betrayal of Judas, his despair and finally his suicide. When Christ appeared before Pilate at the beginning of the trial, crashing thunder and lightning flashes added to the impact of the play. Rain fell on the players and the audience, yet the drama continued on through the trial, Crucifixion, the burial and the triumphant Ressurection. When th final curtain fell, there was by tradition, no applau- se. The actors left the stage, the audience of 5,200 filed quietly out, some moved to tears by this great- est of all performances. Father Gvora says it was the most moving and unforgettable experience of his life. Some people can remember when you didn 't have to chew it first, to tell the air from the water.
