John MeGrath e grade I0 student is being sponsored by the local Kingmen-Club to attend the Kin Hi Leadership Course at Quetics. This ig a course designed to help participants de- velop insight into democratic leadership, understanding of societys' demands in a citizen and an awareness of their own potentisi for growth. MAY 28, 1970-- STUDENTS ATTEND "OUTWARD BOUND". ; Michael Glad, presently gnrolled| in Grade I3 at Schreiber High | i School, received a scholarship to : attend the Northwest Outwerd Bound School in Eugene, Oregon. This school is a non-profit, educational} © ergenization, affiliated with Outward Bound, Inc., of Andover, Mass., and the Outward Bound Trust,{- London, England. ; Students at these schools come from different economic, racial geographic and social backgrounds. They are all brought together by the challenge of genuine adventure through the mountain wilderness and the opportunity of proving a their capacity for helping others through rescue operations j fire fighting, and emergencies of all kinds. The course is five weeks in duration and is tough, but within every- one's capabilities. Gregory Adey, also a Grade 13 student and formerly associated } with the Outward Bound Course, will be an instructor at the Minnesota Centre. Dukeg welcomed elementary and secondary school teacher: from Manitouwadge, Marathon, Schreiber and Terrace Bay in Marathon on the afternoon of Mey 23rd. The highlight of the afternoon wes an address given by W.W. Watt, Senior Division Consultant for the Ontario Depart ment of Education who was introduced by Mr. Hernyk of Manito wadge. The address left much "food for thought" for the disoussion in the sessions which followed. Mr. B.C. Stewart, prinoipal of Schreiber High School thanked Mr. Watt for his inspirational speech. : A coffee break ensued and as another progressive step in the K to 13 programme elementary and secondary teachers assembled in groups to discuss aspects of their respective disciplines. At the termination of the discussion groups the F.W.T.0.A held a meeting and the 0.S.S.T.F. members met with Mr. Dillon, field secretary from the head office in Toronto. A supper meeting of the executive of 0.S.S.T.F. for this division brought what was an educationally beneficial day to a close.
