TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 14_ There are apparently a few idiots left who do not | have the brains to realize the terrible damage they are doing to our golf course by not replacing divots . The number of fresh divots noted during the tourna- ment last Saturday was appalling! The people out on the course were mainly regular members - men - ladies and juniors. Provisions are available to severely penalize any member who deliberately digs divots and doesn't replace them - and these penalties will be invoked without hesitation. It should be noted that one of the highlights during the tournament was a birdie on six by Jan Hall. Men's Twilight Tournaments will start this Wednes- ee Mrs. M. Even the weather man co-operated by providing the nicest day we have had so far this year. Approximately 210 walkers started the 20-mile route from Terrace Bay to Schreiber and back. Of this number, about 190 reached Schreiber and 91 of these completed the round trip. The first to finish was Albert Cadieux, Jr. of Terrace Bay who jogged and walked the 20 miles in four hours. The first girl to finish was Tara Greenwood, a grade seven pupil at Terrace Bay Public School. Two kindergarten pupils contributed outstanding efforts: Nancy Gerlach walked eight miles and Donna Lapenskie covered the entire 20 mile route! Among the "old-timers" who were suc- cessful in completing the 20 miles were Gary Speck, |e of Holy Angels' School; Mrs. Maureen Paukstys, \ & Mark Boudreau and Michael Anderson, all of Terrace Bay. : Of the Grade 8 students themselves ( on whose be- half the walk-a-thon was held), 2a Ree all of the pupils participated.
