Mrs. Helen Wallace was cashier and the table 'of baking was attended by Mrs. Agnes Bryson and Mrs. Victoria Winters. The tea was poured by Mrs. Minnie Bryant and Mrs. Nettie Thrower, Mrs. Agnes McCouan and Mrs. Millie Smith. The servi- tors were Mesdames Lil Christie, Eirene Harness, Della Moore, Dora Weaver, Lil Horris, Earline Johnson and Barbara Nesbitt. Replenishing were Mesdames Jessie Macadam, Winnie Clemens, Alice Sparkes and Mavis Slater. The door prize was won by Mrs. Lester McCuaig and the two decorated cakes, made by Mrs. Gladys Hamilton, were won by Mrs. Robert Winters and Mrs. Leonard Hiller. The committee in charge were pleased to welcome Mrs. Mary Nesvesky, PDDP, and Mrs. Mary Johnson, P.N.G. of Thunder Bay as guests at the tea. ~ TOWN COUNCIL The Schreiber town council passed for payment dues of $150. in the Thunder Bay District Muni- pal League at their regular March meeting on March 31st. They accepted the budget for the Home for the Aged presented by the board. it was decided to have the Ontario Fire Mar- shall's office conduct a municipal fire protection survey . Permission was granted to the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion to conduct a canvas for the Salvation Army during the month of May in Schreiber . The account presented by Pat Guina for paint and repairs to the cemetery fence was ordered paid with a letter of appreciation to Mr. Guina whose work on the project was a donation to the town. Water bills of $192.61 and general accounts of $1915.42 were passed for payment. SHOWER TEA HONORS BRIDE-ELECT Miss Brenda Duncan, bride-elect of this month was honored at a shower tea held in St. John's Church Hall on April 4th. Among other things the brief will deal with the need for incentive income tax provisions for resi- dents of the North (Mid-Canada and the Arctic). The Foundation requests the views of the readers of this newspaper on the following questions: 1. Are residents of Mid-Canada and the Arctic penalized by way of cost of living, income taxes, transportation and other costs? 2. Should special income tax policies and provisions apply to residents of Mid-Canada and the Arctic to equalize their opportunities with the residents of Canada South; and/or should residents of Mid-Canada and the Arctic not only be equalized but as well be given income tax incentives. What should these incentives be? 3. Should the residents of Mid-Canada and the Arctic be exempt from the new credit restrictions imposed by the Federal Government, and if so, why? 4. What specific incentives should be considered for smal! businesses, secondary industries, and service industries in Mid-Canada and the Arctic?
