A Mother's Day tea was planned at the re- gular meeung March 10, of the Anglican Church Women. The tea will be held in the church hall on May 9 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. There will also be a bazaar table, a cake raffle and a door prize. Mrs. Reg Bailey presided for the meeting with 12 members present. Mrs. Jack Bryson re- ported the lunch held in February had been. most successful and. also reported on the dinner ser- ved recently. The correspondence, read by Mrs. Robert Ellacott, } included a letter from Mrs. W. Brayshaw, Thunder Bay, inform- ing members of the annual meet- ing of Churchwomen of the dio-, cese will be held May 4-5-6 in Thunder Bay. Host parish will be St. Michael and All Angels. Mrs. Reg Bailey and Mrs. F. V. Har- ness were appointed delegates, and other members hope to at- tend. A letter of appreciation was received from the Schreiber High School for the meal served dur- ing their Winter Carnival. Mrs. George Taylor, diocesan secre- tary, Sault Ste. Marie, wrote regarding the appointment. This was ordered paid. A generous donation was made to church wardens and also a $10. donation to the Schreiber High School student council. It was agreed to cater for the Cubs and Scouts Father and Son ban- quet on April 9, also for a salad plate lunch on April 25. It was decided that in future a small fee will be charged for the use of kitchen facilities to groups or people outside the church. Lunch was served by Mrs. Nor- man Glad and Mrs. Fred Har- ness. Lunch hostesses for the next meeting will be Mrs. Jack Bryson and Mrs. Robert Ella- cott. CATHOLIC GIRLS PLAN TEA The Catholic Girls' Club, at their March meeting, planned their Candle Light tea for April 19th, from 7.30 to 10.00 p.m., with a variety program. Dale Sisson, who presided, thanked the members who assisted the Kinsmen Easter Seal project. An interesting and appreciative letter was read from a family in India which the girls support . Cathy Stokes and Anne Marie McGrath volunteered to work in the church library during April . Gaetan Chicoine won the door prize. Father J.M Cano spoke on the meaning behind the act of con- fession. LEGION LADIES TO CONDUCT S.A. FUND DRIVE The ladies' auxiliary to the Canadian Legion made a $10. donation to Schreiber High School year book at the March meeting. Mrs. Bobbie Winters and Mrs. Violet Rigelsford were named delegates to the district meeting in Marathon on April 4th. It was agreed to conduct the May fund drive for the Salvation Army, conveners to be named later. March 24th will be a social night. Mrs. Jack Winters, Mrs. Delores Spikula and Mrs. Bern Whent will be hostesses for the April meeting. Mrs. Violet Rigelsford presided for the meeting. PAGE 15 The Catholic Girls club hosted the Girls World Dy¢ Day of Prayer, a most successful occasion this year, | with over 150 attending the service in the Parish Centre. Those taking part were from each of the different congregations in town. Leaders were Cathy Cocks and Clover Dukes and Jane Bailey. Readers were Beth Ross, Shirley Ann Winters and Debbie McCanna. Lola Scott was the M.C. and Sister Carol the choir leader, with Janet Lengyel, Kathy Stokes and Dale Sisson as guitarists. Ushering and taking the collection were Michelle Bedard, Betty Anne McKenna, Cindy McKay and Vicky Strasser. TOWN TOPICS Mr. and Mrs. Harold McParland will hold an open reception on March 21st, from 2.30 to 5.30 p.m. in the town hall in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Lenard Godin, nee Patricia McParland, whose wedding takes place that day in Holy Angels Roman Catholic Church. Lester McCuaig is in McKellar Hospital . The local chapter of Pinewood Court is most grateful for the generous support of their bake sale. The Kinettes are holding their 12th annual Spring Fashion Show on April 12, at 8 p.m. in Schreiber High School. There will be a door prize and tickets are available from any member. C.W.L. HOLD MARCH MEETING At the March meeting of the Catholic Women's League Mrs. Clair Power and Mrs. Lil Ukrainec agreed to act on the nominating committee to secure new officers for the Catholic Women's League for the' April regular meeting. Mrs. Anne Banning, Mrs. June Sisson and Mrs. Kay Stefurak will convene a wedding dinner on March 21st. Harold Shack of the Parish Council, requested a CWL representative attend their meeting.
