Arnold Hilmar Lowe WEEKEND BASKETBALL On March 13th and 14th Schreiber girls travelled to Terrace Bay to partake in the basketball tourna- ment. Teams from Dryden, Schreiber, Thunder Bay and Terrace Bay participated. Schreiber High School played their first game against Selkirk. They played a good game, but were defeated 54-52. On the following morning, Schreiber High School played the Dryden and Terrace Bay teams respectivel We were defeated by both Dryden and Terrace Bay. Since Terrace Bay stood with 1 win, Schreiber with 0 wins and Dryden and Selkirk with 2 wins, the playoff was between the Dryden and Selkirk teams. Dryden:and Selkirk tied at the end of game time, so it was sudden death to declare the winners. Dryden scored the points to win the N.W.O.S.S.A.A. Trophy . CURLING FINALS Nine rinks participated in the Schreiber High School Curling during the winter months. Curling activities came to a close on March 11th with the playoffs . Three rinks participated in the "A" Event Playoffs with the Krystia rink winning the McCuaig Trophy Team members were: skip - Marta Krystia; vice- Trudy Wiznuk, second-Craig Fischer and lead-Tom Roffey . Four rinks participated in the "B" Event Playoffs with the Caccamo Rink winning the "Caccamo" Trophy. Team members were: - skip-Paul Caccamo, vice-Robert Nesbitt, second-Debby Gemmel and lead-Debby Lidkea. Congratulations are extended to the two winning rinks. VISITORS FROM KIMBERLY-CLARK Thursday, March 12th, an excellent slide presen- tation of "The Effluent Story" was given by Mr. A. Chisholm and Mr. C. Gorman. Mr. Chishoim's commentary, along with the slides, illustrated to the students and faculty, the extensive preventive program being carried out by Kimberly-Clatk to diminish pollution in this area. During the question period, both Mr. Chisholm' and Mr. Gorman answered the numerous questions asked by the students and faculty. On behalf of the audience, Pat McParland, president of the Student Council, thanked Mr. Chisholm and Mr. Gorman for the informative presentation. Photo page 14.... continued ......
