TO HONOUR TRADES GRADUATES 12 No. 48 On Friday, December 5th, Kimberly Clark will hold a Graduation Dinner at the Terrace Bay Motor Hotel to honour eight graduates of the Trades Train- ing Program. Five employees will have completed the three year Trades Training Program while three have com- pleted the one year Helper Training Program. The graduates are: Millwrights - Ron Burton, Roddy Thompson, Angus Drexler and Edward Stachiw; Pipefitters - Dennis Bouchie, Fred McColeman and William Pytyck; Instrument Mechanic - Jon MacDonald. Kimberly Clark has been conducting a formal Trades Training Program since 1950. Including this year's graduates, there has been seventy-two employ ees trained as tradesmen. Guest speaker at the Graduation Dinner will be Mr. A.S. Manera, Director, Technology Division, Confederation College, Thunder Bay. . MENTALLY RETARDED ASSOCIATION PRESENTED CHARTER _ Another first took place in Terrace Bay on Saturda evening, November 23rd, when the newly formed Schreiber - Terrace Bay Chapter of the Ontario Asso- ciation of the Mentally Retarded was presented with their Charter. This chapter is the newest one to be formed, of 11, in Northwestern Ontario. At a dinner held in the Moose Hall, and capably continued page 5 eeeee Serving the District BE SAFE FOR A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR 1969 December 4, EFFLUENT COMMITTEE MEET IN ESPANOLA Espanola, Ontario - The 22nd regular meeting of the Northwestern Ontario Kraft Mills' Effluent Improvement Committee was held recently at the mill of Eddy Forest Products Limited in Espanola. This group meets semi-annually to discuss problems of mutual interest, andvis dedicated, to the achievement of improved control of mill air and stream effluents, in our areas. In attendance were representatives from the member mills of Eddy Forest Products Limited, Espanola; Dryden Paper Company Limited, Dryden; Domtar Newsprint Limited, Red Rock; American Can of Canada Limited, Marathon; and Kimberly Clark Pulp and Paper Company Limited, Terrace Bay . The meeting was chaired by John Ferrier, Mill Manager at Terrace Bay. Discussions centred around a meaningful ex- change of information and technical data appli- cable to the control of air and stream pollution in the complex production facilities of the member mills.
