[ERRACE BAY NEWS 1767 Ky "THE OWL'S HOOT" LOCAL HISTORY CLUB A History Club has been formed at Schreiber Hiab School for the purpose of studying the local history of this area. The President of the club is Mike Spa- doni; the vice-president is Rosemary Speziale; and the secretary-treasurer is Linda Pitkanen. So far the club of approximately 20 members has shown considerable enthusiasm for this new venture . Antiques of all sizes and description have been brought to the meetings for observation and study. A few examples are show in the pictures accompanying this article. The STAR COFFEE MILL was patent in 1884 and was made in Philadelphia, U.S.A. It was used in a local store some years ago to grind coffee. The WALL CLOCK was made by the Arthur Pequegat Clock Co. of Kitchener, Ontario. It was called an "Eight-Day" clock because it only had to be wound once every eight days. And finally, the ELECTRIC CANDLE was made by the Eveready Co. and was used for a multitude of purposes. The Local History Club, under the direction of Mr. Affleck, would deeply appreciate any infor- 1 mation or help the public can give in the way of objects for study or information on the objects such as those pitured that the club is presently studying. So don't throw out that old iron!
