SEPTEMBER 25, 1969 3 CPTA AGAIN SPONSORS CHILD MOVIES One hundred members attended the first regular meeting, following summer recess, of Holy Angel's Catholic Parent Teachers' Association, on September 18, Vice President, Yvon Beauparland, presided in the absence of Joe Wills. Members were urged to write the M.P.P. supporting the brief "Equality in Education" requesting that favorable action be taken by the government to implement extension of the Catholic Elementary School System. Toys were displayed for a novel December raffle which is to be held by Grade Eight students. Movies for children were offered again this year on a monthly trial basis. The custom of awarding a room attendance prize - a prize to the room with the most parents attending a C.P.T.A. meeting - was discussed and it was decided to discontinue the practice. In place of a regular business meeting in October Mr. G. O'Brien, Superintendent Separate Schools, will speak on rejuvenation of the CPTA Sister St. Timothy, principal, introduced her staff, with each giving a resume of the summer courses completed and their goals for the students this school year. The advantages and exciting possibilities of team teaching were explained by the teachers who will be involved. The donation of adult or child sized rock- ing chairs, for use in the school would be appreciated, and minor repairs needed will be taken care of. The senior students are planning to make movies and the loan of a simple, cartridge type movie camera will be gratefully accepted. _ Mrs. Irene Borutski won the door prize, a grocery hamper donated by Costa's. . Following the closing prayér lunch was served by the new executive. TOWN TOPICS Miss Gertrude Cameron and D'Arcy Webb of Fort William were the guests of Mrs. Innes West - visiting also other relatives in town. Linda Connelly has enrolled at Windsor University. Roberta Milani has entered the Regional School of Nursing. Mrs. Pat LeBlanc, of Fort William visited her sons Arthur and Edgar and their families this week, driving TERRACE BAY NEWS _PAGE 13 down with Mrs. Joe Potvin and Miss Pat Potvin. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Fraser visited Mr. and Mrs. Harry Welbourne this week, en route home to Port Arthur from Sault Ste Marie. Brother Mark, O.S.A. visited his brother, Edwin Borutski and his family, en route from Vancouver to Toronto where he has been transferred by his Order. Charlie Boon is visiting Mr. and Mrs. John Gauthier in Folyet, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Boon in Timmins, and other relations in Powassin. Barry Miller and Doran Kragero have returned to the School of Mines in Haileybury. Mr. and Mrs. J<E. Robinson of Burlington visited Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Whent, en route to Florida. Anne Noonan is training in research work in St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon McCuaig of Fort William spent the weekend at their camp at Walker Lake. Lorne O'Neil is in McKellar Hospital . Visiting with Mrs. Jim Gray last week were Mrs. A. McEwen, Miss Mary McEwen, and Mrs. Ida Cliff of Port Arthur. FISH STORY! warmly and offered the hospitality of their hosts friends' homes, but Mr. and Mrs. Bill Farrell and Mr. and Mrs. Art Kinnear ,of Kingston, the guests of Mr. and Mrs. 'Bruce Simon, are receiving some Very cold glances, quite unearned by the wives. The men, however, richly deserve the hostilty they are re- ceiving from local anglers, who have been complain- ing bitterly about the lack of fish in Walker Lake. Bill and Art decided to 'wet a line', although warned of the futility of it, and promptly got as nice a catch as was had all summer by local frustrated fishermen, using all devices of odd hours, differing weather conditions, and many and varied lures. Adding insult to injury, Bill got two beauties on one line!
