JULY 9,1969 KIDDIES DAY A successful outdoor Kiddie Kiddies' Day was sponsored by the Terrace Bay Legion on July Ist. Children of member flocked around a well-set table to receive their free treats . In charge, serving in the free treat department and handled very efficiently were Pat Jones, Paul Coupal, George Churney and Heinz Schmeidchen. Following the free treats session, the children assem- bled at the Moose Hall ground to participate in various types of sport activities. Sports chairman and chairman of the day Dave Gunter, as- sisted by president Charlie Koski, Paul Rochon, Cleon Smith, Gordon Calder, Pat Jones, and George Ramsay, in putting the children through their paces. Highlight of the day, fans were treated toa very amus-- | ing and unique soft ball game | when the Auxiliary Queens challenged the Legion Swat- | ters. Sore back, skinned | ankles, pulled ligaments and bruised knuckles were not all in vain, as the Auxiliary Queens, dressed in gay color- ful uniforms trounced the Legion Swatters in a 9 to 8 victory. Although some might have felt that there were some shenanigans going on, with an extra ball appearing from outer space, umpire Paul Pluta called the game as he saw it.
