Cavanaugh welcomed members of the Roy- al Canadian Legion, Branch 223, Terrace Bay, who had asked for an audience with the Council. Mem- bers of the Legion are concerned with the problem of teen age drinking in town, and formed a commit- tee to discus his problem. Police Chief Doyle was also present. Some of the points of concern for minors drinking were their source of supply, stolen liquor, lack of convictions being publicized. Chief Doyle stated there was a lack of co-operation from some parents, and the difficulty in obtaining witnes- ses to any offence. Councillor Desrosiers volunteered to act with a committee of Legion members to try and come up with a solution to the problem. The meeting was called to order, and correspon- dence included a letter from the Department of High ways re painting the centre line on Simcoe Plaza and near the Recreation Centre. Kimberly Clark stated they would be willing to assist in the Lakeview Extension project when it is started. A letter was sent to Miss Lampshire of the District Board, Home for the Aged, asking for separate costs for maintenance of Pinewood Court. The Terrace Bay Bowling Association asked coun- cil for permission to use the large meeting room in the Recreation Centre for a genral meeting. Coun- cil advised this is under control of the Recreation Committee. Ontario Good Roads Association will hold a Road School for Road Superintendants in Fort William, on June 16 - 17. Qualified students who are bona-fide residents of Terrace Bay or who are dependents of Kimberly-Clark employees living outside of Terrace Bay are reminded that they may apply for the $2,000. Scholarship a- f warded annually by the company. To be considered a condidate for the scholarship, a student must have obtained an average of at least 73% in Grade 13.
