SCHREIBER HIGH '69 WINTER CARNIVAL Schreiber High's annual fun-filled winter Carnival began on Wednesday the 29th, and continued until Friday evening at one o'clock. The first event was a dog sled race in which four boys pulled one girl from Hill's corner to the school. Ottawa house was the winner as Paul Gauthier, Allan LeBlanc, Rod Mercure and Brian Hewson brought Linda Kelly over FEBRUARY 6, 1969 the the finish line to gain five. points. Following were the snow shoe races in which Susan Philips and David Borutski brought in points for their _ houses. Snow football was then enjoyed by both partici- f pants and spectators, followed _ by a Ski-Doo Race which was won by Danny Godin. Thursday, after school, the volleyball and badminton games were held and were followed by two basketball games between Terrace Bay and Schreiber senior teams, both boys and girls. The first game between the girls was a close game but we, remained undefeated by a score of 21 - 18. For Terrace, Lynn Simmer and Lorraine Belliveau played a very good game giving our star players for that game, Linda Hayes, Nancy Lapenskie and Mary Speziale, along with the rest of the team, tough competition... It looked pretty hopeless for our boys, as at the end of the third quarter the score stood 30-12 in favour of Terrace. However determined not to give up the game, our boys kept fighting and by the end of the last quarter they managed by many great plays to tie up the game. The game now continued into a very tense 3 minute overtime in which to end the suspense, Stan Spadoni scored 8 points and Albert Courtemanche scored 2. Star players for Terrace Bay were Albert Cadieux 12 points and Bob Broadhurst 10 points. Greg Morrill scored 21 points and Stan Spadoni scor- ed 16 points. The final score ended at 45-35 for the Hawks. ie Friday morning was full of hockey action and skate races in the arena and chess games along with slides of Mr. Gouthro's Eurasian travels, at the school .
