969 ANNUAL GUIDE MEETING TO BE IN KENORA The local association to the Terrace Bay Brownies and Guides met Monday, January 27th in the Community Church basement for their monthly meet- ing. Minutes were read by Secretary Mrs. Sylvia Duquette and correspondence read. Mrs. Y. Rajotte gave the Treasurer's report. A silver collect- ion will be taken up at each meeting and put into an L.A. fund. Part payment of rent for use of the Boy Scout Hall was made. The Guides workshop will be held Saturday, Feb- ruary 8th in Schreiber. The annual Guides meeting will be held in Kenora in April. Volunteer painters will repair the toadstool and elves used in the Brownie and Guide flower beds in Centennial Park. The meeting was adjourned and lunch served by Mrs. H. Hiebert and Mrs. Y. Rajotte while all pre- sent listened to a brief account by Pam Jones of her recent trip to England when she was permitted to wear her Guider uniform and Canada Flashes. Among press releases from Mr. Penner's office re- ceived this week is one stating that he, as a member } of the standing committee on External Affairs and National Defence, has suggested that the Canadian | Armed Forces should be more specialized in its func- tion than is presently the case.
