PAGE 4 VALENTINE SOCIAL PLANNED BY LADIES AUX. The Ladies Auxiliary to the Royal Canadian Legio Branch 223, held their regular meeting on Sunday, January 26th at the Legion Hall. President D. Ballentine chaired the meeting. Secretary, Joyce Mercier, read the minutes of the last executive and general meetings. Correspondence consisted mainly of thank you notes. Mrs. Daley reported six get well cards and one Rose bowl had been sent out. Plans were made for Curling Playdowns Supper . A motion was passed to purchase a prize for a raffle in the evening. Members again will assist in calling for the March of Dimes on Thursday, January 30th. -Mrs. Pam Jones offered her home for the next executive meeting on February 12th. A Valentine Social will be held in the Club Rooms on February 14th. The Home Bingo was won by Mr. W. Gebski, with proceeds to go to the Sea Cadets. Mrs. Pam Jones won the Pot of Gold. The meeting ended with the retiring of colours, and the Queen. A delicious lunch was served by Mesdames A. Daley, Y. Rochon and S. Dakin. Lyle Nicol left recently for a skiing holiday in Switzerland, where he will visit the following ski resorts: Davos, St.-Moritz, and Zermatt, which is the home of The Matter Horn. It is known thot some ski runs are 12 miles long, train service is required to get back to the starting point. Mothers! The sweater was knitted and donated by Mrs. L. Legault} 3 to the Grade 8 pupils of St. Martin's School, in their fund raising, to finance a trip at the year's' end. The town is going to be zoned, with each pupil responsible for his or her own zone, so that only -- one call will be made on each householder. This will eliminate the nuisance of being canvassed more than once for the same cause. Please be generous in your response to the Grade 8 pupils, when they call on you.
