TERRACE BAY NEWS SCHREIBER MRS. R. WINTERS PRESIDENT LEGION L.A. Mrs. Pat Moore was initiated into membership at the regular meeting of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 109, held November 5th. Mrs. Winters presided and 21 members attended A donation of $100 was made to the Schreiber Figure Skating Club and one of $10 to the Veteran's Xmas Tree Fund, Winnipeg, Manitoba. It was decided to purchase new curtains for the kitchen and other necessities for the kitchen cupboard. A tentative date of December 15th was set for the Children's Christmas party. Mrs. Iris Lidkea will convene the party and Mrs. Earline Johnson the lunch. Social nights were set for November 12 - 19 and 26. The Terrace Bay Ladies Auxiliary wrote re- questing a transfer for Mrs. Jeannette Gunter. Mrs. Bern Whent presented the nominating commit tee report - the new slate of officers: President - Mrs. R. Winters; first vice - Mrs. V. Rigelsford; second vice - Mrs. Helen Nesbitt; treasurer - Mrs. Betty Luke; Warden - Miss Sandra Dennison; assis: tant warden - Mrs. Chris Dunham. The president re- ported she had presented the Ladies Auxiliary scholar ship of $50 to the winner Barry Miller at his home last month as he is away attending school and would not be returning for commencement exercises. Lunch hostesses for December are Mesdames Irene Bolan, Lil Christie and Penny Caccamo. The Guides and Brownies will hold a bake sale on Friday, November 22nd from 2 - 4 p.m. in the Alcorn building. The money raised will be used to assist with the work of the Movement. Moorey (phone 90), who is in charge of enrolment. FRANK McKENNA HEADS MINOR HOCKEY President Reg. Bailey chaired a.meeting of Schrei- ber Minor Hockey Association held November Ist when officers were elected as follows: president - Frank McKenna; vice-president - Tom Quinton; secretary-treasurer - Mike Cosgrove. A shortage of supervisory personnel for the begin- ner group was discussed and it was decided that all nine year olds be moved to the Pee-Wee group and. the eight year olds moved to Mice on Ice and given NOVEMBER 14 anew name. John St. Jean agreed to supervise the lowest age group and will appoint his assistant. Several names suggested and it was decided to call them Super-Mice. Ted Wilson agreed to act as chair man of the Pee-Wees and also coach "A" team in this division. Other coaches are D. Luke, H. Fisch- er and |. Beauparlant. Following registration there should be sufficient players to form four teams, the A team may play in the Bantam House League. Jim Armstrong will be chairman of the Bantams and will appoint other coaches. Tom Quinton will coach one team. Mid- gets will be coached by Dominic Figliomeni and W. Stefurak will manage in this division. Registration fees were set at $1 for Mice and $2 for all others. Harvey Carmichael will be fund raising chairman. - The Association would greatly appreciate offers of assistance from parents and adults to coach, manage, referee, or serve in any capacity. 1968 Miss Pat Quinlan of Niagara Falls is the guest of , Mr. and Mrs. Pat Mulligan. ANGLICAN CHURCH WOMEN Mrs. A.C. Rigelsford presided for the regular meeting of the Anglican Church Women held Novem ber 6th in the Church Hall. Mrs. J. Bryson reported on the very successful bazaar and thanked all mem- bers who had assisted. A coffee break and Christmas bake sale was planned for December 2, in the Alcorn building. Mrs. Iris Lidkea reported many cards sent out during the past month. It was decided to pur- chase more tables for banquets and Mrs. J. Bryson will write for prices. A grateful acknowledgement was received from Shingwauk School in Sault Ste. Marie for a donation. The Living Messages have arrived and members ma contact Mrs. C. Sparkes for their copies.
