OCTOBER 3, 1968 Kiy "THE OWL'S HOOT" News from the Pep Club - Once more the Pep Club, organized and led by Phylis Wiznuk, is making plans for the '68-'69 school year. Sometime in the near should prove interesting as we have never had one before. Proceeds from this dance will go towards purchasing new Girls' Basketball uniforms. We owe this club a vote of thanks as we are sure to profit from their efforts. Meet Your Teacher - Mr. Affleck, our popular and understanding history eacher, was born in | Winnipeg, Manitoba, where he received his jschool diplomas. He ttended United College n Winnipeg for the first half of his University life while the latter part was spent at Lakehead Univer sity. He was attracted to Schreiber because he wished to teach in a small town so as to get to know people on a more personal basis. Mr. Affleck says he enjoys it here because the people are extremely friendly and he is delighted to be residing here. Student Council Elections - Nominations were open last week for the various offices on Student Council for the year '68 - '69. As all the candidates con- ducted excellent campaigns, the choice was a diffi- cult one. The photo below shows some of the candi- dates for the Student Council. Mrs. Mulligan acted as Mistress of Ceremonies On Friday morning the student's elected those they felt best suited for the offices and also a class repre- sentative from each room. The results were as follows: President - Mike Glad; Vice-President - Barbara Stefurak; Secretary - Helen Williamson; Treasurer - Brenda Lalonde; Social Convenor - Phylis Wiznuk; President of Athletic Association - Stanley Spadoni (Congratulations to all of you) 9-A - Lonnie Connelly; 9-B - Janice Wiznuk 10-A - Dan McGrath; 10-B - Katie Kastiluk 11-A = Susan Bromley; II-B - Linda Power 12-A - Nancie Spillane; 12-B - Cosimo Commisso 13 - Helen Harness A great deal of responsibility is now left in the hands of these students but we feel confident they will do their best with full enthusiasm and school spirit.
