Cumming of Terrace 0 T af? | Bay will be conducting a 6-week Silk Screening § p 2 | course at the Recreation Centre. The tentative date i for this course is Thursday evenings; however, if this | date is not suitable for the applicants, please notify the Recreation Office. This.is your chance to learn j - how to make your own Christmas cards, posters, tex-| -- tile printing, etc. A minimum number of 10 persons will be required before we can start this course. The registration fee will be $1 per session, with a mini- mum of $3.00 for 3 lessons payable in advance. Please indicate your interest in this course by phon- ing the Recreation Office - 3542. Roller Skating - Roller skating is held every Sunday evening from 7 to 10:p.m. in the arena. There are just 3 more Sundays of roller skating between now and when we start putting ice in the arena. Bring. the family or your girl friend and enjoy Sunday even ings of skating fun. University Extension Program - Starting this Friday at 7 p.m. in the High School, Dr. Asimi will be in Terrace Bay to conduct a credit course in Sociology . Classes will be held once every two weeks and are available to anyone wishing to acquire a university degree or anyone who is just interested in auditing the course. This course is open to Adult Students: "Any student or anyone who is twenty=one years of age or older, who has been away from formal educa- tion for more than two years, who does not meet the minimum requirements, may apply for admission as a special adult student. Persons wishing to register may contact Mrs. Shirley Angus - 3868 - or attend the first class this coming Friday . Teen Dance - Last Saturday evening, the Recreation Committee sponsored a very successful Teen dance, which featured The Orphans from Winnipeg. We un- derstand the Navy League will sponsor a teen-age dance in the arena on Friday, October 11th. Coming Events - Sunday, October 6th - 1.30 p.m. Lacrosse games in the Arena; Friday, Oct. 11- Navy League Teen Dance in Arena; Friday, Oct. 25 - Fish and Game Club Stag - Curling Lounge; October or November - Badminton Instructional Clinic; Saturday, Nov. 23 - North Shore Referees School - Arena; Let's Communicate - Help us to avoid duplication of community events. If photos are included, these must be in by Monday noo Lee NE (ENR GOLF CLUB NEWS The Annual Wind-up of the Aguasabon Golf Club will be held Friday, October 18th in the Masonic Hall. There will be door prizes and dancing. The presentation of Trophies will also be included in the evenings activities. Watch the NEWS for further details. Scania cee RECREATION NEWS - by David Courtemanche Art Club - There will be a business meeting of the Art Club this coming Thursday, at 7.30 p.m. in meeting room no. 3, followed by a work session. Lacrosse - The Lacrosse game between Terrace Bay and Manitouwadge, which was scheduled for last Fri- day, has been re-scheduled for this Sunday, starting at 1 p.m. in the Arena. Spectators are welcome to come out to see this return match between the two teams. Our boys have been practising hard, so let's give them some support. Last year they lost 10-0 and 13-0 and this year so far they have only lost by 5-3 and 7-3, which in an indication that they have im- proved. Brideg Instruction - We are still taking names of all persons *nterested in taking bridge instruction at the beginner or intermediate levels. We are in the pro- cess of obtaining an instructor for this activity, but we do need more people before this instruction can get underway. Call the Recreation Office - 3542 - if you wish to register . Ballet-For Children- Last call for anyone interested in having their children take ballet lessons in Terrace Bay this year. If we do not receive any names this week, this class will be cancelled and all persons in- terested may make arrangements with Mrs. Diane | Kirkup to take lessons in Schreiber .
