PAGE 14 Council Authorizes Purchase - cont'd from page 15 seemed the most suitable. Reeve Harness was auth- orized to contact the Ontario Municipal Board and be authorized to purchase the portable classroom and arrange a lease between the township of Schrei- ber and the Schreiber High School board for rental of $225.00 per month for a five year period .. After discussion, council decided, due to increas ed cost of opening and closing graves to charge ratepayers a nominal fee and charge a flat rate to outsiders for such work in the cemetery. Reeve Harness reported no repiy had been received re es- timates on highway lighting, and it was noted that the landscaping requested on the highway had not been done. Councillor McParland felt that a letter should be directed to the Department of Highways to assure that contemplated changes would not involve by- passing Schreiber, and that someone should be brought in to examine the dam at Cook's lake which furnished the town's water supply. Councillor J.S. Caccamo advised council that the Recreation Committee Raft had been tied up in front of his summer home but that he would assume no responsibility for it. Mr. Harness assured him that it will be removed from the water in readiness for painting next Spring. Councillor R.B. Spadoni urged that Barbini Bros. be contacted regarding moving the cenotaph to the new site. The resignation of A.B. Morgan as chairman of the Recreation Committee was accepted with regret and a letter of appreciation was sent to him. Mr. Morgan, who has moved to southern Ontario, was a great supporter and worker in activities for young people, and will be missed. Mrs. Neil Bottomley's suggestion that a sign be placed at the juncture of Scotia and Main, indicat- ing the direction of highway 17 was a good one and will be followed up. Accounts: passed for pay- ment included $210.62 for Recreation Committee; $1204.56 for water works; and -- 25 for General Accounts.
