This clinic is sponsored by the Cana- dian Amateur Swimming Association and is co-ordin ated by the Terrace Bay Recreation Committee. The clinic instructor will be Mr. Robert B. Eynon, Associate Professor of the Department of Athletics, University of Western Ontario. Mr. Eynon's quali- fications rank him high in the field of competitive swimming. He was elected by Canadian Amateur Swimming Association as coach of the girls team for the 1967 pan-American games (Winnipeg, 1967) and was recipient of the First Canadian College Coach of the Year Award (1966) for all-round con- tribution to swimming and diving. All persons interested in registering for this clinic should call at the Recreation Office. More partic- ulars are available, and there will be a small regis- tration fee. Swimming Lessons - Swimming lessons will start on Tuesday morning, July 2nd. All persons who have registered for lessons can find out what time their class starts by checking the schedule posted on the window at the Swim Pool and on the bulletin board at the Recreation Centre. Soap Box Derby - Don't forget the annual Kiwanis Soap Box Derby will be held this coming Tuesday, July 2nd. The site of the race will be upper Lake view Drive, starting at 10 a.m. Refreshments will be sold by members of the Kiwanis Club during the race. Registration forms can still be picked up at the Recreation Centre. Those persons who still have their registration forms in their pockets please get them into the Recreation Office as quickly as possible . Lacrosse - Lacrosse will start sometime during the first week of July. If you are intending to submit your registration, please bring it to the Recreation Office as soon as possible so that we may make up the teams. Lacrosse sticks will be on loan to those persons who don't own them. Later in the month of July, we hope to be able to sell Lacrosse sticks to those who wish to buy them. Further particulars about this program may be obtained at the Recrea- tion Office. Minor Fastball - Minor Fastball is progressing quite well. We area little behind schedule because of bad weather, however, we hope to have the sched- ule and playoffs completed by the first week of July. If you have any problems concerning your schedule, please contact your coach. TERRACE BAY NEWS JUNE 27, 1968 Playground Programme - The Playground programme will start at approximately 1.30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2nd. Because of the construction at the High School, the meeting place for all Playground childre will be the wading pool area. In the event of rain, the children should go directly to the Arena. Our ° very competitive Playground leaders, Verna Daley, Lorraine Belliveau, Jack Cruickshank and Christine Chepelsky, will be there to greet the children, as well as our volunteers - Jim Gerlach and Bill Brant. Public Swimming Hours - For this week, public swim ming hours will be from 1 p.m. to 8 1.m., depend- ing on the weather. Next week, public swimming-.~ will be between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. However, refer to the schedule on the Swimming Pool display window for exact times. Coming Events - Monday, July Ist - Soap Box Derby ' Tuesday, July 2nd - Playground Program commenses at 1.30 p.m. - wading pool area - Swim Pool instruction begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 6 & Sunday, July 7th - Northwestern Ontario Competitive Swimming Clinic Saturday, July 13th - Legion Golf Tournament. NOTE: We are very sorry to notice that we are still having confliction amongst groups scheduling their activities. This could be eliminated if persons would contact the Recreation Office, as we are trying to keep a master chart on Town activities. Let's face facts - our population is only approximately 1,850 and if you are planning a money-making venture, it stands to reason the results or profits are not going to be as great if they are scheduled on the same date as two or three other activities.
