PAGE 8 J UNE 20, 1968 _ Teen-agers take Course - cont'd from front page youthful curiosity about all subjects and objects can- not be suppressed. It is therefore the intent to train our young people in their formative years before they pick up wrong ideas by themselves, about the shoot- ing sports . Experience has proved that given proper instruc- tion, boys and girls can be entrusted to handle fire- arms safely and correctly, and often demonstrate a keener awareness of their responsibilities, when handling firearms, than is shown by many adults. For the first time in several years, a girl has been interested in taking this training course. Miss Sara Pelto is to be congratulated on not only completing the course, but in obtaining a very high mark in the tests given. Other successful candidates were, (not in order of marks obtained), Jim Corrigan, Pat Papineau, Arthur Dorland, Jim Garriock, Werner Hermes, Glen Kuj- 'bida, Rod Larson, Philip Burns, Raymond Bergeron, Clarence Yates, Grayden Fedorak, Leo Legault, Bruce Pelto, Steve Payette, Bill Brant, Stan Megraw Stan Greenwood, Rick Bouchie, John Leclair, Kevin Mercier, Charlie Simmer and John Gross. The local instructors were very pleased with the serious application our teen-agers gave to this course and wish the graduates every success in taking the Department tests for their gun licenses. The photo below by Hugh Brophy, shows the students and coaches preparing to fire practice shots.
