Soap Box Derby - The Kiwanis Club has now informed us that they wail be holding their annual Soap Box Derby on July Ist. Plans on how to make these cars and registration forms, will be forthcoming this week There will be an Art Club meeting on Thursday, May 23rd at 7 p.m. in front of the Art Gallery. Weather permitting, classes will be held outdoors. Mr. and Mrs. D. Williamson and son Derek, visit- ed Mr. and Mrs. J. Lawrence over the weekend. Linda Lawrence was also home over the weekend. Karen Lundberg spent the weekend in North Bay where she visited Lita Marie Boudreau, who is atten- ding St. Joseph's School . GUIDE AND BROWNIE BANQUET A SUCCESS The second combined Guide and Brownie Mother and Daughter Banquet was held at the Moose Hall on Saturday, May 14th. Mistress of Ceremonies for the occasion was Nonna Chapman of the 2nd Terrace Bay Guide Company, who did a wonderful job. TERRACE BAY NEWS low, by Marg Lundberg. songs to the amusement of all present. Shack, District Commis- sioner from Schreiber . Following the presentation of colors, and the sing- ing of O Canada, a toast to the Queen was proposed by Jane Anne Doyle, Brownie, from 2nd'pack. A toast was then proposed to Lady Baden-Powell, by Lori Shritt of the 3rd pack. Groce was then offered by Rev. Epoch. A delicious turkey dinner was served by the Ladies of the Moose. Following the main course, a toast to the Mothers was proposed by Twyla Stevens of the Is Brownie pack, and graciously responded by her moth- er Mrs. R. Stevens. Lorraine Belliveau gave an interesting talk on her experiences at Heritage Camp, and showed some of the crafts she made. Before closing, Lorraine passed on to all members of the Guiding Family, a message from Lady Baden-Powell. Fach person was supplied | with a birthday candle. From the Head Table, Lor- rgine began lighting the candles, and this light was passed along, until every candle was lit. This cere- mony symbolizes the light of Guiding throughout the whole world. For the first time in Terrace Bay, a special Guide of the Year Award was presented by Mrs. G. Caron, District Commissioner, to Wendy McMillan, of the | 2nd Terrace Bay Guide Co.
