PAGE 8 GOLF NEWS Opening Mixed Tournament - is scheduled for Sat- urday, May 25. All present members and those not signed up as yet are urged to enter! This is a novel ty Tournament and there will be lots of prizes. A bean supper is also planned and your favourite re- freshments will be available during the afternoon! We are also aiming to make the draw for the color T V. set, so all those with tickets still to sell shoul wind them up and make your returns to Tony Costa now . It's up to you. ~~ There has been a rash of golf balls being lifted off the fairways recently, especially #5 - by young children. This must stop. Parents are urged to keep their children off the fairways. Not only is lifting golf balls stealing - there is the constant danger of a child being hit by a ball - which could cause serious injury. Children caught stealing golf balls will be dealt with severly. Members are also urged to refuse to buy golf balls from children - it only encourages them to continue lifting balls - - to the consternation of the players. We are quite hopeful that the greens should be playable shortly. However, if those who are not replacing divots don't change their bad habits, we're going to have a major problem with our fair- ways soon. Fresh divots are to be seen daily - this is not only careless, it is plain stupid. There is a growing feeling in the Fxecutive that members not replacing divots should be reported and dealt. with. Holes - in-one have been reported recently by Thor Olsen and Bob Adamo - congratulations fellows We're happy to hear Jack Phillips is doing nicely at the Port Arthur General Hospital. The golf course just isn't the same without him - it's so quiet - We're looking forward to your return, Jack. It was decided to charge $1.00 membership to the Ladies Golf Club and membership cards to the Can- adian Ladies Golf Association may be purchased from the Men's Club for $1.00. - Any lady wishing to buy a Year Book can do so by contacting Peggy Wellings. Ladies Day will be held on Tuesday evenings at 6 p.m. ona trial basis. The members thought that Thursday would be a good day for the 2-ball four- some. Fred Soughton has donated a trophy for the Ladies Ringer Board. TERRACE BAY NEWS MAY 16, 1968 Rules for our tournaments will be posted at the Club House previous to games.
